THE SKINNY STORY
Johns Hopkins used a 27-11 run over a span of 11:30 to turn a five-point edge into a late 21-point lead and ultimately top McDaniel, 61-50.

THE LEADERS
• Hannah Zajac (Houston, Texas/Clear Creek) led the Green Terror with 12 points to go with three steals.
• Liv Storer (Wangaratta, Victoria, Australia/Galen Catholic College) also added 12 points.
• Mallory Conroy (Ellicott City, Md./Marriotts Ridge) added 11 points and eight rebounds.

FOR THE FOES
• Diarra Oden led the Blue Jays with 23 points.
• Emily Howie chipped in 18 points, eight rebounds and four assists.

THE REST OF THE STORY
• Bookended by Liv Storer layups, McDaniel jumped out to a 9-5 lead in the game's first 2:58. The teams traded baskets with five lead changes over the remainder of the first quarter with an Emily Howie free throw making a 15-13 Johns Hopkins lead with 2:04 to play in the opening period.
• A Kristin Ralston putback 30 seconds into the second quarter snapped a nearly four-minute drought from the floor by both teams. A Diarra Oden layup stretched the lead to 19-13 with 8:13 showing on the clock. Five straight points from Howie keyed a 9-0 Blue Jay run over a 1-minute, 38-second span to stretch the lead to 30-17 with 2:48 to play in the quarter. Layups from Anna Mondoro (Dumfries, Va./Homeschool) and Mallory Conroy closed the margin to nine at the break.
• Conroy's putback layup on McDaniel's first possession of the third quarter closed the deficit to 30-23. The Green Terror closed to within 34-29 with 4:12 remaining but Ralston converted on the drive to start a run of eight straight points that pushed the lead to 13 with 2:27 on the clock. An Ellie Connelly (Sharpsburg, Md./Boonsboro) layup made it a 44-33 game after three quarters.
• The Blue Jay lead grew as large as 60-41 on a Howie 3-pointer with 2:42 remaining. McDaniel, ignited by four straight points from Hannah Zajac, closed the game on a 9-1 run to set the final margin.

THE INSIDE STORY
• The 12 points were a season high for Hannah Zajac.
• Emily Howie hit five of Johns Hopkins' seven 3-pointers in the game.
