THE SKINNY STORY
Hope scored three runs in the first innings and added three more in the third en route to an 8-0 lead and 8-2 win over McDaniel at the RussMatt Central Florida Invitational.
THE LEADERS
• Tim Griest (Lititz, Pa./Warwick) led the Green Terror with a 3-for-4 day at the plate and scored a run.
FOR THE FOES
• Nick Lepore led the Flying Dutchmen with a 2-for-3 day, adding two runs and two RBIs.
• Evan Maday, Joey Merucci and Jonathan Sojka all also had two hits.
THE REST OF THE STORY
• Jordon Fairchild led off the game with a triple before a walk and Evan Maday double staked Hope to a 1-0 lead. A Brant Kym sacrifice fly and Nick Lepore single stretched the lead to 3-0 with two outs.
• Maday led off the third with a single before stealing second, taking third on a wild pitch and scoring on a Kym single. A Lepore triple made it a 5-0 game before Ted Eppinga singled him home for a 6-0 advantage.
• Two walks, a wild pitch and two errors stretched the lead to 8-0 in the top of the fifth.
• Tim Griest and Ryan Downes (Hagerstown, Md./St. Maria Goretti) roped back-to-back two-out doubles to break up the shutout in the bottom of the frame before a Naquan Holden (Brooklyn, N.Y./Perkiomen School) single to left made it an 8-2 game.
