Hegna wins three times in victory

THE SKINNY STORY
McDaniel won 10 of the 13 events contested to defeat Hood, 68-45.

THE LEADERS
Sara Hegna (Brielle, N.J./Manasquan) led the Green Terror with individual victories in the 100 back (59.83) and 50 back (28.42 seconds) as part of a three-win day.
• Blair Boyle (Springfield, N.J./Villa Walsh Academy) won the 100 free (56.24 seconds) and 50 free (26.46) to key her four-win day.
Ella Tomkins (Matarangi, New Zealand/Mercury Bay) won the 100 butterfly (1:01.77) and 50 fly (28.27) as part of her three-win day.
• Hannah Cehelsky (Sudbury, Mass./Lincoln Sudbury Regional) touched first in the 500 free (5:37.81).
• Ashley Farrington was victorious in the 200 IM (2:29.61).
• Hegna, Boyle, Megan Gorsuch (Freeland, Md./Hereford) and Tomkins combined to win the 200 medley relay (1:58.08).
• Farrington split a 26.42 seconds in the final leg of the 200 free relay to rally McDaniel to a victory, joining Laura Midkiff (Westminster, Md./Westminster), Boyle and Cehelsky to post a 0.02-second win with a time of 1:50.89.

FOR THE FOES
• Kate Sanborn won the 100 breaststroke for the Blazers with a time of 1:13.76.
• R'Janae Marshall touched first in the 50 breaststroke (36.75).
• Danielle Pong won the 100 IM (1:06.51).

THE REST OF THE STORY
• Emma Lindell (Frederick, Md./Frederick), Hegna, Erinkimber Cunnane and Tomkins combined to finish second in the 200 free relay (1:50.91).
Ashley Farrington was second in the 500 free (5:52.39).
• Megan Gorsuch was second in the 100 breaststroke (1:16.13) and 100 IM (1:09.16). She was also third in the 50 fly (29.52).
• Lindell was third in the 100 fly (1:10.09) and 100 IM (1:13.31).
• Cehelsky was third in the 50 free (27.87).
• Cunnane was third in the 50 breaststroke (40.22).

THE INSIDE STORY
• Hegna's time of 59.83 seconds in the 100 backstroke missed bettering her pool record by 0.02 seconds.
• Gorsuch posted a personal-best time in the 100 breaststroke.
• Midkiff's time was a personal-best in the 50 free.

McDaniel returns to action at Salisbury on Sunday, Jan. 5. Meet time is 1 p.m.
