THE SKINNY STORY

THE LEADERS
Liv Storer (Wangaratta, Victoria, Australia/Galen Catholic Central) led the Green Terror with 12 points and seven rebounds.
Anna Mondoro (Dumfries, Va./Homeschool) added 12 points of her own – all in the second half.
Renie Tsomos (Forest Hill, Md./Bel Air) chipped in 10 points.

FOR THE FOES
• Lillian Scott led the Blue Jays with 18 points.

THE REST OF THE STORY
Hannah Zajac (Houston, Texas/Clear Creek) hit a jumper to stake McDaniel to a 2-0 lead at the 8:24 mark of the first quarter. A Diarra Oden free throw and Lillian Scott fast-break layup put Johns Hopkins in front 3-2 with 7:04 on the clock. Six straight Green Terror points gave the hosts an 8-4 lead with 4:54 showing before Lexie Scholtz and Scott each hit baskets to tie the game. A Caroline Ward (Mt. Airy, Md./Linganore) jumper in the final 14 seconds gave McDaniel a 10-8 edge going to the second quarter.
• Maggie Wodicka drained a 3-pointer with 8:19 to play in the second quarter to give the visitors a one-point lead. After a Liv Storer layup with 5:11 put the Green Terror back on top, Elise Moore scored four of the next five points and Johns Hopkins took a 19-16 lead into the break.
• Moore pushed the lead to 21-16 just 38 seconds into the third quarter before a Sara Pilkey (Fawn Grove, Pa./Kennard-Dale) layup and Anna Mondoro 3-pointer tied the game nearly two minutes later. A second Mondoro triple and two Storer free throws gave McDaniel a 28-23 advantage with 5:12 showing. Scholtz responded with a triple and Scott converted a three-point play in transition to regain the lead. Back-to-back triples from Mondoro and Ward put McDaniel back up 34-29 but Wodicka canned a triple in the final minute to cap a 7-1 burst that gave the Blue Jays the lead for good.
• The momentum carried into the first 2:40 of the fourth quarter when Erin Walsh drained a 3-pointer to push the lead to 43-37. Baskets from Renie Tsomos and Allyson Shipley (Manchester, Md./Delone Catholic [Pa.]) closed the margin to two with 5:25 showing. Tsomos twice got McDaniel within one over the next three minutes but a Madison McGrath 3-pointer pushed the lead to 51-47 with 1:38 and virtually sealed the win.

THE INSIDE STORY
• McDaniel held Johns Hopkins to a season-low 28.6 percent shooting from the floor.
• The Blue Jays, however, went 18-for-25 from the free-throw line while the Green Terror was just 5-for-8.
