Box Score 1 | Box Score 2

WESTMINSTER, Md. – Franklin & Marshall jumped out to a 9-0 lead in game one, keying a doubleheader sweep of McDaniel in Centennial Conference (CC) baseball action on Saturday.

The Diplomats (15-13-2, 8-5-1 CC) took game one 14-1 before completing the sweep, 9-5.

Zachary Glover (Westminster, Md./Calvert Hall) led the Green Terror (10-15, 3-11 CC) with three hits, including his first collegiate home run, to go with four RBIs.

Kengo Kawahara led Franklin & Marshall with five hits, six runs scored and three RBIs from the leadoff spot.

In the opener, Kawahara drew a walk to lead off the game before moving to third on a Jimmy Whelan single and scoring on a Dan Marano sacrifice fly for a 1-0 lead.

Back-to-back singles from Max Schwartz and J.J. Freeman coupled with a Kawahara two-out double stretched the lead to 3-0. Marano added a double to score Kawahara for a 4-0 lead after two.

The Diplomats stretched the lead to 5-0 in the third before doubles from Kyle Ebert and Schwartz keyed a four-run fourth.

An Evan Finch (Laurel, Md./St. John's College) double and Glover two-out single to left got McDaniel on the board in the bottom of the fourth.

A two-run double from Marano and Dan Baroff single up the middle keyed a three-run seventh – all coming with two outs – to push the lead to 12-1.

Franklin & Marshall tacked on two more in the eighth for the final margin.

Finch and Mike Dunn (Lanham, Md./DeMatha) had two hits each to lead the Green Terror in game one.

Tied at 5-all in game two, Whelan led off the seventh with a double before a Marano single put runners at the corners. McDaniel got a double-play ball but Whelan scored the go-ahead run.

Singles from Don DiLoreto and Schwartz once again put runners at the corners with no outs in the eighth. Once again, the Green Terror turned a double play – its fourth of the game – and gave up the run to make it a 7-5 game.

Three walks in the ninth helped lead to two more runs and the final margin.

Kawahara led off game two with a home run to right field for a 1-0 lead before the Green Terror responded in the bottom of the fifth. Colin Franke (Highland Mills, N.Y./Cornwall Central) led off with an infield single before a sacrifice and Dunn double tied the game.

An error coupled with a Danny Blugis two-out double gave the Diplomats a 3-1 lead in the fourth.

Kasey Nelson (St. Pete Beach, Fla./St. Michael's [Md.]) led off the bottom of the frame with a double before scoring on a Glover sacrifice fly to cut the deficit to 3-2.

A Whelan triple keyed a two-run fifth for a 5-2 advantage before Brett Anderson (Wilmington, Del./Tower Hill) poked a one-out double through the left side. Anderson scored on a two-out Antonio Rosanova (Laurel, Md./DeMatha) single.

A two-out walk to Tom Daly (Haddon Heights, N.J./Haddon Heights) extended the sixth inning for Glover, who launched a 1-1 pitch over the fence in left for his first home run and a tie game.

Dunn, Rosanova, Glover and Anderson had two hits each in game two.

The Green Terror returns to action at Stevenson on Monday. Game time is 3:30 p.m.
