Dunn goes 2-for-2 in victory

Box Score

WESTMINSTER, Md. – McDaniel scored three runs in the fifth inning, which proved the difference in a 6-5 win to complete the season sweep of Dickinson in Centennial Conference (CC) baseball action on Friday.

Mike Dunn (Lanham, Md./DeMatha) led the Green Terror (8-10, 2-6 CC) with a 2-for-2 day at the plate and one of seven stolen bases for the hosts.

Chris Delsandro was one of five players with two hits for the Red Devils (6-17, 3-5 CC), adding an RBI and run scored.

Trailing 3-0, Dunn led off the third inning with a single before being erased on a fielder's choice. After Brett Anderson (Wilmington, Del./Tower Hill) stole second, a two-out Antonio Rosanova (Laurel, Md./DeMatha) single to center scored Dunn to cut the deficit to 3-1.

With two outs in the fourth, Julian Jenkins (Tempe, Ariz./Desert Vista) and Colin Franke (Highland Mills, N.Y./Cornwall Central) put together back-to-back singles up the middle.

After a double steal and throwing error made it a 3-2 game, Dunn doubled home Franke with the tying run.

Rosanova drew a leadoff walk in the fifth before stealing second and taking third on a throwing error. A Kasey Nelson (St. Pete's Beach, Fla./St. Michael's [Md.]) infield single scored the go-ahead run before another throwing error allowed him to take second.

A Evan Finch (Laurel, Md./St. John's College) pinch-hit single, wild pitch and Zachary Glover (Westminster, Md./Calvert Hall) double down the line stretched the lead to 6-3.

A Brian Reilly double and Joey Volpe single and error closed the deficit to 6-4 in the top of the eighth.

A one-out walk and pair of singles around a fielder's choice made it a 6-5 game with the tying run at third and two outs in the ninth.

Jordan Rhodes (Fawn Grove, Pa./McDonogh [Md.]) got a first-pitch groundout, however, to the next batter for his second save in as many games.

An Alex Jacobson single off the pitcher, Robbie Thompson single, stolen base and throwing error staked Dickinson to a 1-0 lead in the first.

Singles from Volpe and Ben Carter around a Delsandro double to the gap stretched the lead to 3-0 in the second.

Zach Fortuna (Metuchen, N.J./Metuchen) struck out 10 in six innings for his third win of the year. Nelson joined Dunn with two hits.

McDaniel returns to action at Muhlenberg on Saturday. The first game of the doubleheader begins at 12:30 p.m.
