Box Score WESTMINSTER, Md. – Washington scored 10 straight goals in the second half to open up a 23-11 lead en route to a 24-14 win over McDaniel in Centennial Conference (CC) women's lacrosse action on Saturday.
Lindsey Farrell (Towson, Md./Loch Raven) led the Green Terror (4-5, 0-2 CC) with a program-record 13 draw controls to go with two goals.
Madison Acra led the Shorewomen (7-2, 2-0 CC) with six goals and an assist.
After a back-and-forth first half, Aubrey Robinson finished a solo run with 1:49 to play in the opening half to put the guests in front 11-10 at the break.
Emily Pantazes stretched the lead to two just 57 seconds into the second half. Robinson finished a solo run to make it 13-10 with 27:51 on the clock.
Emily Brownawell (Sparks, Md./Oldsfield) converted a free-position shot with 27:07 to play before Washington reeled off 10 goals over the next 21 minutes.
Acra had three goals during the run.
Farrell snapped a nearly 23-minute scoreless drought with an unassisted tally.
Brownawell and Olivia Geiger (Ellicott City, Md./Marriotts Ridge) rounded out their hat tricks before Pantazes set the final margin with 1:29 to play.
Brownawell, Geiger and Megan Kotelchuck (Crofton, Md./Elizabeth Seton) staked McDaniel to a 3-0 lead in the game's first eight minutes.
The Shorewomen, however, responded with three straight tallies to draw even with 16:48 showing.
Mary Kate Clothier (Lumberton, N.J./Holy Cross Academy) contributed three of her team's next four goals, including on three straight shots, to put the hosts in front 9-7 with 7:02 remaining in the opening half.
Two Acra goals and a Pantazes free-position tally gave Washington a one-goal lead with 3:24 on the clock.
Farrell tied the game off a pass from Annemarie Duerr (Pasadena, Md./Chesapeake) with 2:27 showing.
The Green Terror returns to action at Dickinson on Wednesday. Game time is 7 p.m.
