WESTMINSTER, Md. – Paul Van Nevel (Gaithersburg, Md./Poolesville) notched two victories to lead McDaniel against Franklin & Marshall in Centennial Conference (CC) men's swimming action on Friday.
Scoring:
- The Diplomats (5-2, 1-2 CC) defeated the Green Terror (2-5-1, 0-5 CC) by a score of 60-26.
Head of the Class: The following athletes won multiple events at the meet:
- Paul Van Nevel won the 200 IM (1:59.37) and 100 backstroke (54.14 seconds).
Striking Gold: The following athletes won a single event at the meet:
- Jose Pac (Quetzaltenango, Guatemala/Inter-American) won the 200 free (1:46.06).
Precious Metal: The following athletes finished second or third in an event at the meet:
- Jose Pac finished second in the 100 butterfly (54.80 seconds).
- Adam Halmy (Shenandoah, Texas/College Park) finished second in the 100 breaststroke (1:03.08). He was also third in the 50 free (22.72 seconds).
- Brandon Loehmer (Shrewsbury, Pa./Susquehannock) finished second in the 500 free (5:08.26).
- Grayson Blanchard (Germantown, Md./Seneca Valley) finished third in the 100 free (49.05 seconds).
Top 10 Worthy: The following athletes achieved a mark that ranks in the program's all-time top 10:
- Jose Pac now ranks sixth in the 200 free (1:46.06) and eighth in the 100 butterfly (54.80 seconds).
- Paul Van Nevel now ranks fourth in the 200 IM (1:59.37).
- Grayson Blanchard now ranks ninth in the 100 free (49.05 seconds).
For the Foes: The following Franklin & Marshall athletes won events at the meet:
- Chris Schiavone won the 50 free (20.92 seconds) and 100 free (47.33).
- Alec Wahl won the 100 butterfly (54.00 seconds).
- Eric Lang won the 500 free (5:04.79).
- Ryan Caffrey won the 100 breaststroke (1:01.38).
- Eric Dietrich-Peterson joined Wahl, Caffrey and Schiavone to win the 200 medley relay (1:37.53).
- Keith Kamons, James Connolly and Timothy Gould joined Dietrich-Peterson to win the 200 free relay (1:30.74).
