Box Score WESTMINSTER, Md. – Gettysburg went on a 9-1 run to open up a nine-goal lead en route to a 19-5 victory over McDaniel in Centennial Conference (CC) women's lacrosse action on Wednesday.
Emily Brownawell (Sparks, Md./Oldsfield) led the Green Terror (4-11, 0-8 CC) with three goals and an assist.
Maggie McClain was one of four players with hat tricks for the third-ranked Bullets (14-2, 7-1 CC), who also got two goals and four assists from Katie Landry.
Maggie Welsh tallied twice in the game's first 3:03 to stake the visitors to a 2-0 lead.
Brownawell finished from Olivia Geiger (Ellicott City, Md./Marriotts Ridge) in a 4-minute, 34-second span around the first of McClain's tallies to make it a 3-2 game with 21:24 to play.
McClain, however, responded a minute later to start a five-goal flurry over the next 4:39. Caroline Jaeger and Liza Barr each had two of their three goals during the run.
Annemarie Duerr (Pasadena, Md./Chesapeake) broke up the run, finishing from Brownawell with 15:05 showing in the first half.
Two Landry goals keyed another four-goal run before Lindsey Farrell (Towson, Md./Loch Raven) and Willis traded goals in the final 2:15 of the first half.
Four different Bullets scored in the first 14:11 of the second half to stretch the lead to 14-7.
Brownawell finished a solo run just over two minutes later before Rebekah Riley and Emily Troy rounded out the scoring.
Allison Farrell (Towson, Md./Loch Raven) led the defense with four caused turnovers and five ground balls.
The Green Terror concludes the season at home against Bryn Mawr on Saturday. Game time is 1 p.m.
