Dunn goes 4-for-4 in victory

Box Score

WASHINGTON, D.C. – McDaniel plated six runs in the sixth inning to break open a 5-3 game and defeat Gallaudet 18-3 in non-conference baseball action on Tuesday.

Mike Dunn (Lanham, Md./DeMatha) led the Green Terror (2-1) with a 4-for-4 day at the plate, adding two RBIs and three runs scored.

Cameron Upton led the Bison (4-6) at the plate with two hits and drove in all three runs.

Kasey Nelson (St. Pete Beach, Fla./St. Michael's [Md.]) led off the top of the second inning with a single to left before moving to second on a wild pitch. After a walk to Nick Valori (Sewell, N.J./Washington Twp.), a throwing error scored Nelson and put runners at the corners.

Kaleb Reitz (Halifax, Pa./Halifax) and Valori pulled off a double steal to stretch the lead to 2-0 and a throwing error put Reitz at third before scoring on a Michael Gallagher (Coatesville, Pa./Dowingtown West) triple.

Dunn followed with a sacrifice fly to cap a four-run frame.

A Valori triple and Reitz RBI groundout in the third stretched the lead to 5-0.

After back-to-back walks to Michael Ehlers and Jake Grindstaff with one out in the bottom of the third, Kyle Gumm singled to load the bases. A two-out Upton single to center scored two runs, cutting the deficit to 5-2.

Another Upton two-out single in the fifth plated Gumm to make it a two-run game.

Brad Thaxton (Stevensville, Md./DeMatha) led off the top of the sixth with a walk before a Gallagher single to left and Dunn bunt hit loaded the bases for Antonio Rosanova (Laurel, Md./DeMatha), who singled home Thaxton and Gallagher.

A Tyler O'Shea (Springfield, Pa./Springfield) two-run double stretched the lead to 9-3 before Eric Grantland (Pasadena, Md./Chesapeake) and Nelson had back-to-back RBI hits to make it a six-run inning and stretch the lead to 11-3.

A Rosanova triple in the seventh keyed another two-run frame before a Reitz single ignited a five-run eighth.

Rosanova and pinch-hitter Chris Morris (Wynnewood, Pa./Harriton) had back-to-back doubles to cap the scoring.

Rosanova finished the game with four hits, four RBIs and three runs scored while Nelson and Gallagher had three hits each.

Zack Glover (Stewartstown, Pa./Calvert Hall) made the start on the mound, striking out five in four innings of work.

The Green Terror returns to action on the first day of its eight-game trip to the RussMatt Central Florida Invitational, taking on Coe in a doubleheader on Saturday. The first game begins at 9 a.m.
