Box Score ST. MARY'S CITY, Md. – St. Mary's (Md.) jumped out to a 3-0 lead in the first 4:28 to top McDaniel 13-11 in non-conference women's lacrosse action on Wednesday.
Emily Brownawell (Sparks, Md./Oldsfield) led the Green Terror (4-3) with three goals and two assists while Olivia Geiger (Ellicott City, Md./Marriotts Ridge) added a hat trick of her own.
Lacey Brown paced the Seahawks (5-5) with four goals.
Erike Kopf scored just 10 seconds into the game to stake the hosts to a 1-0 lead.
Brown doubled the advantage with 28:03 on the clock before Meg Gesner pushed the lead to 3-0.
Megan Kotelchuck (Crofton, Md./Elizabeth Seton) closed the margin to 3-1 with 23:53 showing before Brown and Megan Cannon scored fewer than three minutes apart to stretch the advantage to four.
Brownawell finished a solo run for her first tally midway through the opening half before Gesner started a 4-1 run for St. Mary's to stretch the lead to 9-3 with 2:07 remaining.
Geiger finished the second Brownawell helper with 30 ticks remaining in the opening stanza.
After nearly 10 minutes elapsed in the second half without a goal, Abby Phillips (New Freedom, Pa./North Harford [Md.]) and Brownawell scored just 55 seconds apart and Geiger tallied a goal with 18:43 remaining to close the margin to 9-7.
Brown and Kotelchuck traded goals before solo runs by Abbey Harrison and Cannon stretched the lead to 12-8 with 5:52 to play.
Brownawell and Geiger finished their hat tricks to make it a 12-10 game with just 49 seconds to play.
Ali Collie finished a solo run with 23 ticks left before Olivia Maenner (Towson, Md./Notre Dame Prep) scored just before the final horn to set the final score.
Allison Farrell (Towson, Md./Loch Raven) tallied five draw control and a caused turnover.
The Green Terror returns to action in the Centennial Conference opener at Haverford on Saturday. Game time is 12 p.m.
