Box Score AUBURNDALE, Fla. – McDaniel scored twice in the first inning en route to a 5-0 win over Wis.-Platteville in non-conference baseball action at the RussMatt Central Florida Invitational on Monday.
Eric Grantland (Pasadena, Md./Northeast) led the Green Terror (3-4) with two hits.
Kyle Reinhart recorded two of the four hits for the Pioneers (3-2), who also drew four walks.
With two outs in the first inning, Grantland singled before Kasey Nelson (St. Pete Beach, Fla./St. Michael's [Md.]) went deep for his first home run of the season and a 2-0 lead.
McDaniel had just one runner reach second base until the seventh inning when Nick Valori (Sewell, N.J./Washington Twp.) led off the frame with a single.
Tyler O'Shea (Springfield, Pa./Springfield) and Mike Dunn (Laurel, Md./DeMatha) each had one-out singles to load the bases.
Antonio Rosanova (Laurel, Md./DeMatha) followed with a two-run single before Michael Gallagher (Coatesville, Pa./Dowingtown West) followed with a squeeze to score Dunn for the final margin.
Dunn joined Grantland with two hits on the day.
Jordan Rhodes (Fawn Grove, Pa./McDonough [Md.]) went seven innings on the mound with eight strikeouts to pick up his first win.
The Green Terror returns to action against William Paterson on Wednesday. Game time is 9 a.m.
