WHEN LAST WE MET: Ursinus scored 26 straight points to take a 33-9 lead en route to a 33-17 victory over McDaniel last season. Bamasa Bailor (Carlisle, Pa./Carlisle Area) led the Green Terror with 84 yards receiving. Matthew Callahan (Germantown, Md./Northwest) threw for 242 yards on the day. Sean Montgomery finished with 68 yards receiving while Mike Oliveto caught eight passes for 66 yards. Salvadore Bello led the Bears with 465 yards passing, completing 22 of 41 passes.
LAST TIME OUT: Muhlenberg scored 21 first-quarter points en route to a 42-13 victory over McDaniel last week. Nick Palladino led the Mules with 243 yards passing, completing 17 of 23 passes with five touchdowns. Nick Lamb caught three of those touchdowns among his eight grabs for 82 yards. Nick Savant added another 110 yards on the ground.
WITH HONORS: Doug MacArthur (Roebling, N.J./Florence Twp. Memorial) was named to the CC Weekly Honor Roll last week. MacArthur was tabbed to the special teams list after averaging 36.6 yards over his eight punts. He dropped two inside the 20 and forced four fair catches.
LEADING THE WAY: Tyler DeMent (Olney, Md./Northwest), Vince Gorgone (Clarksville, Md./Good Counsel) and Matt Quattrone (Carlisle, Pa./Carlisle Area) will captain the squad in 2016. This is the second straight year Quattrone has served as a captain while DeMent and Gorgone are first-time captains.
DOING IT ON DEFENSE: The Green Terror defense has forced and recovered a fumble in each of the first three games this season. In the opener at Catholic, Shane Douglass (Fort Washington, Md./Friendly) forced a fumble in the backfield that Ray Doh (Silver Spring, Md./Blake) was able to recover. Two weeks ago at Moravian, Doh was able to jump on a ball after a bad snap. Last week in the home opener, Matt Quattrone (Carlisle, Pa./Carlisle Area) forced a fumble on a sack that Drew Scott (Brick, N.J./Brick Twp.) was able to recover.
LUKE IS YOUR FATHER: Luke Lynes (Dillsburg, Pa./Northern) saw his second varsity action in the fourth quarter on Saturday. The junior signal caller took the field with 5:32 to play on Saturday and marched the team 38 yards on 10 plays for a touchdown. After a first down, Lynes' dropped back and hit Davon Ingram (Sparrows Point, Md./Dundalk) for a seven-yard gain on his first collegiate throw. It was the first career reception for the sophomore receiver. After five more running plays moved the ball to the three-yard line, Lynes hit Britton Hastings (Shippensburg, Pa./Shippensburg Area) on a swing pass that the senior took into the end zone for his first career touchdown.
LION'S SHARE: Matt Cathey (Brick, N.J./Brick Memorial) ran the ball 17 times over the Green Terror's final three drives last week. On the two drives in which McDaniel scored a touchdown, Cathey touted the ball 15 times over the 21 plays run. Cathey ran the ball seven times for 34 yards on the 64-yard march. Two drives later, Cathey's number was called eight times for 28 yards. Cathey finished the day with 70 yards rushing after carrying the ball five times for 12 yards over the first two games combined.
STAYING UPRIGHT: The McDaniel offensive line group of Jared Staub (Union Bridge, Md./Francis Scott Key), Paul Flagg (Williamstown, N.J./Williamstown), Michael Martucci (Williamstown, N.J./Williamstown), Vince Gorgone and Hunter Metcalf (Blain, Pa./West Perry) has not allowed a sack over the last two weeks. In fact, the Green Terror has not allowed a sack since Catholic was able to get to the quarterback twice in the first half of the opener. The unit, which returned starters in Flagg, Gorgone and Metcalf, allowed just 12 last season. Staub and Martucci also saw significant time on the line last season.
NO RETURNS ALLOWED: Doug MacArthur punted eight times on Saturday, forcing four fair catches. In three games as the starting punter, he has forced a conference-high nine fair catches. He also has dropped six punts inside the 20-yard line against just one touchback. His 37.6 yard-per-punt average ranks fourth in the conference.
GOING NOWHERE FAST: Three plays after Muhlenberg took a 28-0 lead with 5:47 to play in the first half, Will Koester (Purcellville, Va./Woodgrove) hit Andre Henry Jr. for a 27-yard connection that moved McDaniel into Mule territory. From there, the defenses went into lockdown mode. The two teams combined to run 17 plays over the remainder of the first half that netted minus-1 yards of total offense. The Green Terror's next three plays after the Henry first down went backwards two yards. Muhlenberg gained four yards on its next possession before being forced to punt. McDaniel's next possession also went backwards two yards before a fumble four plays into the Mules' ensuing possession resulted in a fumble two yards behind the original line of scrimmage. The Green Terror moved forward three yards before an interception. Muhlenberg attempted a run on its first play after the turnover but lost two yards and elected to let the half expire.
TERROR TIDBITS: Andre Henry corralled career bests in both receptions (7) and yards (64) last Saturday… Ray Doh is the only player in the conference with two fumble recoveries this season. Doh is also second on the team with 20 tackles… The Green Terror has had 13 different players catch a pass this season… Nine of McDaniel's 11 defensive starters have no fewer than eight tackles in the first three games. COACHES' CORNER: Mike Dailey is in his first season at the helm of the Green Terror after seven seasons as an assistant on the staff. He enters today's game with an overall record of 0-3. Dailey joined the Green Terror staff in 2009 with a pedigree of success at all levels of football that included compiling a record of 115-83 and two championships in 12 years as a head coach in the Arena Football League (AFL), leading the Albany Firebirds and Colorado Crush that included winning league titles in 1999 and 2005. For his first six seasons on the McDaniel sidelines, he served as defensive coordinator. His scheme put pressure on opposing quarterbacks game-in and game-out, recording 101 sacks and 55 interceptions. He helped produce 12 All-Centennial Conference selections, including four first-team nods. In 2015, Dailey shifted responsibilities to the offensive side of the ball – something he is renowned for from his days in the AFL. He spent last season coordinating the pass game and working specifically with the wide receivers… Peter Gallagher is in his 16th season at Ursinus. He has posted a 77-78 mark at the helm of the Bears, including a 6-4 record in his first season (2001), marking the first time an Ursinus coach registered a winning season in his first year. In 2006, Gallagher added offensive coordinator to his duties and recorded the most successful campaign in his tenure at 8-3. In 2010, he guided the Bears to a share of the Centennial Conference title and became the program's all-time wins leader. Prior to his arrival in Collegeville, he served as the defensive coordinator at the University of Rochester in addition to successful stints at Dartmouth, Wagner and Georgetown. Gallagher guided Ursinus to six straight winning seasons – the longest stretch in program history – before last year's 3-7 mark.

He has three touchdown passes but six interceptions. He also has 61 yards rushing and Ursinus' lone touchdown on the ground… Stacey Gardner leads the rushing attack with 181 yards on 35 carries… The Bears are averaging just 14.0 points per game this season. The offense has found the end zone just four times in the first three games… Nicholas Ford is 3-for-3 in field-goal attempts this season, including hitting a pair of 35-yard field goals last week at Franklin & Marshall… Ursinus has scored on only half of its trips into the red zone this year (4-for-8), including just one touchdown… Jack Spingler leads the defense with 23 tackles… Prince Patterson has scored a defensive touchdown this season.
