Box Score HAVERFORD, Pa. – Haverford scored the final four goals of the game to defeat McDaniel 13-11 in Centennial Conference (CC) women's lacrosse action on Saturday.
Olivia Geiger (Ellicott City, Md./Marriotts Ridge) led the Green Terror (4-5, 1-1 CC) with her first collegiate hat trick, scoring three goals to go along with nine draw controls.
Allie Gibbons led the Fords (5-4, 1-1 CC) with four goals and an assist.
Trailing 11-9 after Maggie Quinn (Crofton, Md./Archbishop Spalding) scored her second goal of the day midway through the second half, Gibbons finished a Christina Gould feed with 11:41 remaining to draw the hosts within one.
Gould then found Rina Rosnow for her fourth goal nearly four minutes later to draw the teams level.
Two Elyse Adler solo runs just 42 seconds apart gave Haverford its only two-goal lead of the game with 6:10 to play.
Geiger staked McDaniel to an early 1-0 lead just 41 seconds into the game off a pass from Emily Brownawell (Sparks, Md./Oldfields).
With 25:06 to play, Geiger made it back-to-back tallies, finishing a feed from Allison Farrell (Towson, Md./Loch Raven) before a Brownawell free-position tally made it a 3-0 game.
Sarina Manetta dented the scoreboard for Haverford with 22:13 on the clock before Annemarie Duerr (Pasadena, Md./Chesapeake) and Lindsey Farrell (Towson, Md./Loch Raven) scored nearly a minute apart for a 5-1 advantage midway through the period.
Three straight Gibbons goals – the first two off feeds from Gould – trimmed the deficit to 5-4 with 11:59 remaining.
Two Rosnow goals 2 minutes, 5-seconds apart turned the one-goal deficit into a one-goal lead with 8:19 on the clock.
A Farrell free-position tally and two eight-meter conversions by Brownawell in the final 1:18 of the half gave the Green Terror an 8-6 edge.
The teams traded tallies through the first half of the second stanza to keep it a two-goal game until the final run.
The Green Terror returns to action at Swarthmore on Wednesday. Game time is 7 p.m.
