Box Score 2 HAVERFORD, Pa. – McDaniel scored five runs in the third inning of game two to rally for a doubleheader split at Haverford in Centennial Conference (CC) baseball action on Saturday.
The Fords (18-10, 7-3 CC) took the opener 4-0 before the 21st-ranked Green Terror (23-7, 4-6 CC) won the nightcap, 11-2.
Marty Windisch (Manchester, Md./Manchester Valley) led McDaniel with three hits and three RBIs in the twinbill.
Nick Ott had three home runs for Haverford.
Windisch roped a one-out triple in the top of the first in game one before scoring on a Cameron Bahr (Southampton, N.J./Seneca) single one batter later.
Tyler O'Shea (Springfield, Pa./Springfield) led off the third with a single before Antonio Rosanova (Laurel, Md./DeMatha) was hit by a pitch.
A Sean Sivo (Ellicott City, Md./Howard) sacrifice moved both runners up before O'Shea scored on a Windisch RBI groundout.
Bahr drew a walk and Chris Morris (Wynnewood, Pa./Harriton) followed with a single to plate Rosanova.
A Nick Valori (Sewell, N.J./Washington Twp.) double stretched the lead to 5-0 before a single and error allowed Valori to score for a 6-0 lead.
Windisch led off the fifth with a home run for a 7-0 lead.
Sam Partee singled to lead off the bottom of the frame before a double and Zach Taylor sacrifice fly made it a 7-1 game.
Kaleb Reitz (Halifax, Pa./Halifax) homered in the sixth and Eric Grantland (Pasadena, Md./Northeast) went yard in the seventh to push the lead to 9-1.
The teams traded unearned runs in the eighth, including Ott's third long ball of the day before the Green Terror tacked on a final run in the ninth.
Windisch, Bahr, Valori, Grantland and Reitz all had two hits in game two. Brad Thaxton (Stevensville, Md./DeMatha) threw seven innings to pick up his fourth win.
In the opener, Ott blasted a one-out home run to right field in the second inning.
Back-to-back doubles by Sam Kane and Thomas Vollaro with two outs doubled the advantage.
Ethan Lee-Tyson homered to lead off the sixth inning to make it a 3-0 game before Ott went yard for the second time in the game, setting the final margin with two outs in the eighth.
Stephen Ridings went the distance for Haverford, striking out 11 and allowing just one hit. He also walked three.
Windisch had the lone hit for McDaniel. Zach Kronick (Schenectady, N.Y./Guilderland) also fanned 11 on the mound for the Green Terror, going seven innings.
The Green Terror returns to action at Dickinson on Tuesday. Game time is 3:30 p.m.
