Maggie Quinn (Crofton, Md./Archbishop Spalding) led the Green Terror (2-2) with three goals and two assists.
Sidney VanTuyl paced the Hornets (0-4) with a hat trick of her own.
After Annie McCorry and Abby Zorrilla scored three seconds apart to draw the game even with 6:47 to play, Samantha Barbeito (Wolfsville, Md./Middletown) was awarded – and converted – a free-position attempt with 2:26 to play and the defense held to preserve the victory.
Miranda Rudacille staked Shenandoah to a 1-0 lead just 1:22 into the game before Allison Farrell (Towson, Md./Loch Raven) scored just 23 seconds later to even the game.
Quinn gave the Green Terror a 2-1 edge with 27:39 to play before Emily Brownawell (Sparks, Md./Oldsfield) stretched the lead to two with a free-position tally just seven seconds after that.
Goals from VanTuyl and McCorry once again drew the game level with 23:12 to play but Quinn found Olivia Geiger (Ellicott City, Md./Marriotts Ridge) directly off the restart.
VanTuyl and Nakona Wolfe finished a pair of solo runs to make it a 5-4 game midway through the opening period but Annemarie Duerr (Pasadena, Md./Chesapeake) scored off a Geiger feed with 1:29 on the clock to even the score at halftime.
Lindsey Farrell (Towson, Md./Loch Raven) and Danielle Barbeito (Wolfsville, Md./Middletown) scored eight seconds apart to make it a 7-5 game with 24:35 to play.
A Farrell-to-Quinn connection capped a three-goal flurry in just 43 seconds.
After Rudacille and Duerr traded tallies, VanTuyl and Brittany Arndt each converted 8-meter shots to make it a 9-8 game with 18:28 to play.
A Quinn solo run reestablished the two-goal margin with 16:54 on the clock.
Quinn added seven draw controls to her five-point day.
McDaniel returns to action at home against Frostburg on Thursday. Game time is 4:30 p.m.
