Box Score WESTMINSTER, Md. – McDaniel pounded out 19 hits as part of a 14-5 win over Hood in non-conference baseball action on Wednesday.
Marty Windisch (Manchester, Md./Manchester Valley) went 4-for-4 at the plate and struck out 11 batters in six innings of work on the mound for the 24th-ranked Green Terror (18-1), who was playing its first game as a ranked team.
Josh Gall went 3-for-4 to lead the Blazers (8-12), who had 13 hits but left 15 runners on base.
Trailing 2-0 after Cam Esposito and Gall doubled in the top of the first, Sean Sivo (Ellicott City, Md./Howard) led off the home first with a single. Windisch followed with a triple and later scored on an RBI groundout to tie the game.
Tyler O'Shea (Springfield, Pa./Springfield) gave McDaniel the lead for good an inning later, blasting a one-out home run to left field to make it 3-2.
Three straight singles from Tyler Gilbert (York, Pa./Glen Burnie [Md.]), Nick Valori (Sewell, N.J./Washington Twp.) and Eric Grantland (Pasadena, Md./Northeast) stretched the lead to 5-2 in the third.
Antonio Rosanova (Laurel, Md./DeMatha) walked to lead off the fourth before back-to-back singles by Sivo and Windisch and a Cameron Bahr (Southampton, N.J./Seneca) pushed the lead to 7-2.
A Quinn Fulton single, wild pitch a Drake Friend double down the line closed the deficit to 7-3 in the top of the fifth.
Five singles in the sixth made it a 10-3 game before Fulton homered with one out in the seventh.
Hood scratched out a run in the eighth with singles by Gall and Tyler Cook around a walk before a two-run single by Grantland keyed a four-run bottom of the frame to set the final margin.
Sivo, Valori and O'Shea had three hits each while Grantland had two hits and three RBIs.
McDaniel returns to action at home against Maine-Presque Isle on Thursday. Game time is 3:30 p.m.
