Box Score WESTMINSTER, Md. – McDaniel exploded for 20 hits on 21 runs, defeating Penn State-Mont Alto 20-1 in non-conference baseball action on Tuesday.
Cameron Bahr (Southampton, N.J./Seneca) led the Green Terror (14-1) with a 3-for-4 day, adding three RBIs. Marty Windisch (Manchester, Md./Manchester Valley) recorded his 168th career hit in the fifth inning to break a tie with Patrick Christopher for the all-time program record for hits.
Koby Griest led the Lions (1-10) with two hits on the afternoon.
After Windisch was hit by a pitch with one out in the home first, Bahr drew a walk and Tyler Gilbert (York, Pa./Glen Burnie [Md.]) followed with a single through the left side to score Windisch with the game's first run.
A pair of errors and Bahr double to the gap helped McDaniel plated three unearned runs in the second inning.
Eric Grantland (Pasadena, Md./Northeast) led off the third inning with his first career home run for a 5-0 lead.
Tyler O'Shea (Springfield, Pa./Springfield) keyed a two-run fourth with a double to center field.
Another O'Shea two-run double in the fifth capped a nine-batter, four-run frame to make it a 11-0 lead.
A Matthew Taylor one-out triple and Lowell Singer RBI groundout plated Penn State-Mont Alto's lone run in the top of the sixth.
After Sean Sivo (Ellicott City, Md./Howard) and Windisch walked to lead off the sixth, Bahr roped a double to right field to push the lead to 13-1.
The Green Terror sent 12 batters to the plate in the seventh inning. The series of pinch hitters put together a seven-run frame. Keegan Romanoff (Hanover, Pa./New Oxford) had a two-run single up the middle to key the inning.
McDaniel returns to action at Messiah on Wednesday. Game time is 3:30 p.m.
