Box Score ARLINGTON, Va. – McDaniel scored four runs in each the second and eighth inning to defeat Marymount 8-1 in non-conference baseball action on Wednesday.
Marty Windisch (Manchester, Md./Manchester Valley) went eight innings on the hill for the Green Terror (3-0), scattering seven hits and striking out three. He also had a hit and an RBI at the plate.
Lorenzo Calderon had two of the hits of the Saints (5-6), who allowed a pair of big innings but had five pitchers combine to allow just five hits.
Nick Valori (Sewell, N.J./Washington Twp.) led off the top of the second with a double down the line before Kaleb Reitz (Halifax, Pa./Halifax) reached on an error to put runners at the corners.
A Michael Gallagher (Coatesville, Pa./Downingtown West) RBI groundout plated Valori for a 1-0 lead.
A Tyler O'Shea (Springfield, Pa./Springfield) walk and wild pitch put runners at second and third.
Antonio Rosanova (Laurel, Md./DeMatha) followed with a single through the left side to score Reitz.
A throwing error allowed O'Shea to score for a 3-0 lead before a Windisch RBI groundout plated Rosanova for a 4-0 lead.
Nick Smutko led off the home fifth with a single before being erased on a Ray Coates fielder's choice.
A two-out single from Calderon got Marymount on the board but he was caught stealing to end the frame.
With one out in the eighth, Gallagher, O'Shea and Rosanova all drew walks to load the bases before Sean Sivo (Ellicott City, Md./Howard) lofted a sacrifice fly to center to score Gallagher for a 5-1 lead.
Windisch drew a walk to reload the bases before a Cameron Bahr (Southampton, N.J./Seneca) bases-clearing double set the final margin.
The Green Terror returns to action for a doubleheader at Lancaster Bible on Saturday. The first game begins at 1 p.m.
