Rosanova records four hits in victory

Box Score

WINTER HAVEN, Fla. – McDaniel scored eight runs in the seventh and eighth innings to rally for a 12-6 win over Fitchburg State at the RussMatt Central Florida Invitational in baseball action on Wednesday.

Antonio Rosanova (Laurel, Md./DeMatha) led the Green Terror (10-1) with a 4-for-5 day at the plate, adding four RBIs and a pair of runs scored.

Riley Shea led the Falcons (3-4) with two hits and a run scored.

Tyler Gilbert (York, Pa./Glen Burnie [Md.]) led off the seventh inning with a single before Nick Valori (Sewell, N.J./Washington Twp.) reached to put runners at the corners.

A Kaleb Reitz (Halifax, Pa./Halifax) one-out single plated Gilbert before Tyler O'Shea (Springfield, Pa./Springfield) walked to load the bases.

Rosanova followed with a two-run double and Sean Sivo (Ellicott City, Md./Howard) added a two-run single to cap a five-run frame that put McDaniel in front 9-6.

Three hit batters, a Michael Gallagher (Coatesville, Pa./Dowingtown West) RBI single and Rosanova two-run double accounted for a three-run eighth to give McDaniel insurance.

Valori drove in Cameron Bahr (Southampton, N.J./Seneca) in the bottom of the first for a 1-0 lead before Fitchburg took advantage of a pair of errors in the top of the second to take a 4-1 lead.

Bahr drew a leadoff walk in the third before moving to second on a sacrifice and scoring on a Valori single to make it a 4-2 game.

A Bahr RBI single in the fourth evened the game before the Falcons scored twice in the sixth to go on top, 6-4.

Brad Thaxton (Stevensville, Md./DeMatha) threw seven innings with five strikeouts to pick up the win before Marty Windisch (Manchester, Md./Manchester Valley) allowed just one hit in relief for his first save of the year.

McDaniel returns to action in a doubleheader against Utica on Thursday. The first game begins at 9:30 a.m.
