Box Score CLERMONT, Fla. – Amherst scored the first seven goals of the second half to break open a 7-4 game and defeat McDaniel 14-6 in non-conference women's lacrosse action on Tuesday.
Allison Farrell (Towon, Md./Loch Raven) led the Green Terror (3-3) with a pair of goals while Maggie Quinn (Crofton, Md./Archbishop Spalding) added two goals and an assist.
Hanna Kruger led No. 12 Amherst (2-1) with four goals and two assists.
Tied at 3-all, Claire Cagnassota finished a feed from Mary Grace Cronin to put Amherst in front for good with 19:03 to play in the opening half.
Krueger finished a solo run with 15:59 showing before Mia Haughton and Rachel Passarelli scored just 1:02 apart to open up a 7-3 advantage.
Farrell took a pass from Sam Barbeito (Wolfsville, Md./Middletown) in the middle of the arc and finished with 5:49 to play in the opening half, closing the margin to 7-4.
Amherst, however, took over early in the second half and netted five goals in the first 9:18 of the period.
Kruger scored just 2:01 into the second half before Cronin tallied 59 seconds later.
After Passarelli capped the flurry, she completed her hat trick with 18:54 to play.
Another Krueger tally made it a 10-goal margin with 16:45 remaining.
Quinn finished a feed from Barbeito with 9:30 showing and Annmarie Duerr (Pasadena, Md./Chesapeake) capped the scoring on a free-position tally from the center with 3:38 on the clock.
Krueger opened the scoring, hitting a free-position tally just 58 seconds into the game before Barbeito drew the Green Terror even off a quick pass from Quinn 2:25 later.
Krueger hit Kate Wyeth with 25:56 on the clock. Passarelli won the ensuing draw and hit Haughton to make it a 3-1 game just 19 seconds later.
A Quinn tally and Farrell free-position score drew the game even with 19:31 to play in the opening half.
Farrell also won three draw controls and had a pair of ground balls.
The Green Terror returns to action in the second of its two games in Florida, playing Babson on Thursday. Game time is 11 a.m.
