Sivo raps five hits in sweep

AUBURNDALE, Fla. – McDaniel walked off with a victory in game one before exploding for 11 runs in game two to complete a doubleheader sweep of Stockton at the RussMatt Central Florida Invitational in baseball action on Saturday.

The Green Terror (8-0) recorded an 8-7 win in the opener before notching an 11-3 victory in the nightcap to start a season 8-0 for the first time in program history.

Sean Sivo (Ellicott City, Md./Howard) record five hits, four RBIs and four runs scored in the twinbill. The four runs scored give him 103 for his career, breaking the program record of Pat Christopher (100 from 2010-13).

Marty Windisch (Manchester, Md./Manchester Valley) added a second program record, recording three RBIs to reach 98 for his career and pass Russell Coover (97 from 2007-10).

The Ospreys (0-5) were led by Vaughn Champion with five hits in the two games.

With game one tied at 7-all, Nick Valori (Sewell, N.J./Washington Twp.) led off the seventh inning with a single before moving to second on a Michael Gallagher (Coatesville, Pa./Downingtown West).

Michael Dunn (Lanham, Md./DeMatha followed with a pinch-hit single to score Valori with the game-winning run.

A Matt Poinsett triple helped stake Stockton to a 2-0 lead in the top of the first inning.

Windisch singled and scored to cut the deficit in half in the bottom of the frame.

The Ospreys stretched the advantage to 5-1 an inning later before Tyler O'Shea (Springfield, Pa./Springfield) and Antonio Rosanova (Laurel, Md./DeMatha) singled with one out in the bottom of the inning.

Sivo followed with a sacrifice fly to make it a 5-2 game.

Trailing 6-2, Valori led off the sixth with a home run to spark a five-run frame to give the Green Terror a 7-6 edge.

A pair of walks and Bryce DePaola single in the top of the seventh evened the game.

Windisch got the final out of the top of the seventh on the mound to earn the victory.

In game two, Sivo and Windisch singled to lead of the game and sparked a four-run top of the inning in which McDaniel batted around.

The lead extended to 7-0 an inning later and 9-0 after three innings before a hit batter, walk and Stephen Stroble double in the bottom of the third got the Ospreys on the board.

The Green Terror tacked on single runs in each of the fifth and sixth before Stockton scored twice in the bottom of the seventh for the final margin.

Sivo had three hits in game two while Windisch pitched the first four innings with three strikeouts to pick up his second win of the day on the hill.

McDaniel returns to action against Gwynedd Mercy on Sunday. Game time is 12:30 p.m.
