WESTMINSTER, Md. – Washington (Md.) won seven events to capture a 57-38 Centennial Conference (CC) men's swimming victory over McDaniel in the dual-meet finale for both teams on Saturday.
Brad Brooks (Newark, Del./Charter School of Wilmington) led the Green Terror (1-7, 0-6 CC) with three victories that included posting the team's best mark of the season in the 200 free, winning with a time of 1:43.71. He also won the 100 free in a time of 48.30 seconds before capping his day with a victory in the 500 free with a time of 4:56.28.
Lucas was one of three double winners for the Shoremen (10-0, 6-0 CC), who capped an undefeated dual-meet season and won the conference dual-meet title. Morgan won the 200 breaststroke in a pool-record time of 2:11.53 and also touched first in the 200 IM (2:00.45).
Paul Van Nevel (Gaithersburg, Md./Poolesville) added a victory and program record for McDaniel. He joined Justin Allen (Ashburn, Va./Broad Run), Adam Halmy (Shenandoah, Texas/College Park) and Owen Long (Hanover, Pa./New Oxford) to open the meet with a victory in the 200 medley relay, posting a time of 1:39.24.
Van Nevel later finished third in the 100 backstroke but did so in a program-record time of 54.38 seconds.
Van Nevel and Long also turned in their best 200 IM marks of the season, finishing second (2:02.90) and third (2:04.11), respectively, in the event.
Allen was second in the 100 butterfly (53.38 seconds) and 200 breaststroke with a season-best time of 2:12.68.
Brandon Loehmer (Shrewsbury, Pa./Susquehannock) and Brian Austin (Turlock, Calif./J.H. Pitman) finished 2-3 in the 1000 free with times of 10:59.90 and 11:03.92, respectively.
Pat Elliott and Cody Weiler were also double winners for the Shoremen. Elliott won the 1000 free (10:06.01) and 100 backstroke (53.62 seconds) while Weiler won the 50 free (21.69), individually. Weiler also led off the 200 free relay to a victory in a time of 1:29.63.
McDaniel returns to action at the CC Championship hosted by Gettysburg on Friday, Feb. 20. Action begins at 11 a.m. on Friday and continues on Saturday and Sunday.
