Farrell scores goal, records pair of caused turnovers

WESTMINSTER, Md. – No. 14 Messiah reeled off eight straight goals to erase and early 2-0 deficit and key an 18-3 win over McDaniel in non-conference women's lacrosse action on Saturday.

Allison Farrell (Towson, Md./Loch Raven) led the Green Terror (1-1) with a goal and two caused turnovers.

Courtney Wagner scored four goals to pace the Falcons (1-1), who had two other players record hat tricks.

Abby Phillips (New Freedom Pa./North Harford [Md.]) staked McDaniel to a 1-0 lead just 3:48 into the game, bouncing off her defender in transition and scoring her first goal of the year.

Farrell doubled the lead just 2:18 later.

An Allie Colson solo run made it a 2-1 game with 21:28 showing, sparking an 8-0 run over the next 11 minutes, 39 seconds.

Colson scored three times during the run while Shayna Delaney and Wagner each scored twice.

Olivia Geiger (Ellicott City, Md./Marriotts Ridge) broke up the run, connecting on a free-position goal with 6:19 to play in the opening half.

Just over two minutes later, Kendra Herbenar reestablished the six-goal lead en route to a 10-3 halftime advantage.

Back-to-back Stephanie Athens tallies made it a 13-3 game just 4:49 into the second half to make it a 10-goal margin for the first time en route to the 15-goal win.

Messiah finished with a 44-14 advantage in shots.

The Green Terror returns to action at home against St. Mary's (Md.) on Wednesday. Game time is 4 p.m.
