FREDERICK, Md. – Justin Allen (Ashburn, Va./Broad Run) won three times to lead McDaniel at Hood in men's swimming action on Saturday.
Scoring:
- The Green Terror (2-4) defeated the Blazers (6-4) by a score of 105-94.
Head of the Class: The following athletes won multiple events at the meet:
- Individually, Justin Allen (Ashburn, Va./Broad Run) won twice. He won the 200 IM (2:02.80) and 200 breaststroke (2:13.19). He was also part of the 400 medley relay victory (3:37.09).
- Individually, Andrew Gottfried (Berlin, Md./Stephen Decatur) won twice. He touched first in the 200 free (1:51.36) and 200 butterfly (2:01.63).
- Individually, Paul Van Nevel (Gaithersburg, Md./Poolesville) 200 backstroke (1:58.99). He was also part of the 400 medley relay win (3:37.09).
Striking Gold: The following athletes won a single event at the meet:
Precious Metal: The following athletes finished second or third in an event at the meet:
- Brandon Loehmer (Shrewsbury, Pa./Susquehannock) finished second in the 1000 free (10:39.18) and 500 free (5:06.45).
- Paul Van Nevel finished second in the 200 freestyle (1:51.91).
- Greyson Blanchard finished second in the 200 IM (2:06.40) and 100 free (50.78 seconds).
- Michael Brant (Wilmington, Del./Cab Calloway School of the Arts) finished second in the 200 butterfly (2:07.90). He was also third in the 200 backstroke (2:11.01).
- Owen Long finished third in the 50 free (23.37 seconds) and 100 free (53.03).
- Andrew Gottfried finished second in the 200 breaststroke (2:19.49).
Top 10 Worthy: The following athletes achieved a mark that ranks in the program's all-time top 10:
- Andrew Gottfried now ranks fifth in the 200 butterfly (2:01.63).
- Brandon Loehmer now ranks 10th in the 1000 free (10:39.18).
- The 400 medley relay time of 3:37.09 ranks fourth all-time.
For the Foes: The following Hood athletes won events at the meet:
- Ernesto Evans won the 50 free (21.96 seconds) and 100 free (48.69).
- Cameron Rogers won the 1000 free (10:11.63) and 500 free (4:57.64).
- Evans joined Chris Gardner, Matthew Ball and Zack Miller to win the 400 free relay (3:27.78).
