WESTMINSTER, Md. – Last season, McDaniel made its first NCAA women's soccer tournament appearance, traveling and ending with disappoint. In 2016, the script flipped into a home game and resulted in the program's first-ever NCAA tournament victory with a 4-1 defeat of Farmingdale State in the first round on Saturday.

Four different players found the back of the net for the 15th-ranked Green Terror (17-2-1), including Katie Kirschenmann (Damscus, Md./Damascus), who opened the scoring in the 24th minute.

With the victory, McDaniel advances to the second round and will host Connecticut College on Sunday. The Camels tied Scranton 1-all in the day's second first round game in Westminster but advanced in the sixth round of penalty kicks, 4-3.

For the Rams (11-9-3), Amanda Khare drew her team within 2-1 early in the second half.

A Rachel Engle (Elizabethtown, Pa./Elizabethtown) shot from the right wing was initially saved but the ball bounced to Kirschenmann on the back post and the junior was able to knock it home into a wide-open net at the 23:32 mark.

On a corner in the 39th minute, Annie Marshall (Ijamsville, Md./Oakdale) played the ball high to Allie Titus (Frederick, Md./Gov. Thomas Johnson), who blasted home her second goal in the last two games for a 2-0 lead.

That lead held through the opening minute of the second half. However, Alexandria Tudisco sent a ball from the right wing that Khare was able to finish off the crossbar to trim the margin to 2-1 just 1:27 into the second half.

McDaniel was awarded a free kick in the 61st minute. Abby Keen (Salisbury, Md./Parkside) sent the ball high and on frame before it squeezed through the keeper's hands above her and into the back of the net to push the advantage back to two.

Lindsey Farrell (Towson, Md./Loch Raven) tallied her first marker of the season off a Nicole Hill (Bowie, Md./Bowie) cross from the right side in the 67th minute.

Daniella Ford made five saves for Farmingdale.

The Green Terror finished the game with a 16-4 advantage in shots and 4-0 edge in corner kicks.

Game time on Sunday is 1 p.m.
