YORK, Pa. - Sophomore
Alaina Miller scored two goals as the McDaniel College women's soccer team opened the 2026 season with a 2-2 tie on the road at York (Pa.) Tuesday night on Graham Field.
The Green Terror (0-0-1) remained unbeaten in three season openers under third-year head coach
Michael Scott, outscoring its opponents, 10-2.
Miller now has five goals in nine career games after netting three in eight games during an injury shortened first season in 2025.
Miller netted the first goal of the season in the 19th minute to give the visitors an early 1-0 lead. The goal came on the lone shot of the half for McDaniel as the Spartans held a 4-1 edge in the first 45 minutes.
York (0-0-1) netted the equalizer in the 30th minute when Maddie Wise scored off an assist from Meg Kalthof to tie the game at 1-1 headed into the half.
The game remained even until Miller found the back of the net for the second time in the 63rd minute on an assist from first-year
Hariette Ngwatung.
Ten minutes later, the Spartans tied the game for the second time on a strike by Helen Sanders.
The Green Terror held a 9-7 edge in shots in the second half and got four saves from sophomore
Sierra Ruehl. She finished the game with five saves in her seventh career start.
McDaniel has posted a record of 8-1-2 in the last 11 meetings versus York, including a mark of 4-0-2 in the last six on Graham Field.
The Green Terror continue their three-game road trip to open the season on Friday when they travel to Salisbury. Kickoff is at 6:30 p.m.
