ST. MARY'S CITY, Md. - Sophomores
Alaina Miller and
Sierra Ruehl combined to lead the McDaniel College women's soccer team to a 2-0 shutout over in-state rival Salisbury Friday in the Seahawk Classic hosted by St. Mary's (Md.).
The duo helped extend the Green Terror (1-0-1) unbeaten streak to two as Miller picked up two assists and Ruehl earned her second career shutout.
Miller, who had two goals in a 2-2 tie at York (Pa.) in the season opener, now has six points this season while first-yearÂ
Hariette Ngwatung earned a point for the second-straight game, scoring her first collegiate goal in the ninth minute.
MIller picked up her second assist of the game in the 26th minute after her initial shot was saved by Sea Gull keeper Riley Kinzeler and sophomore Katie Pena-Bendalo drove home the rebound for her first career goal.
Miller, Ngwatung, and Pena-Bendalo have accounted for all 10 of the team's points so far this season.
Trailing 2-0, Salisbury (0-2) took eight second-half shots, including five on goal, all of which were saved by Ruehl. She now has two shutouts in her last three starts dating back to last season when she picked up her first career clean sheet in a 1-0 win versus Gettysburg on Oct. 29, 2025.
McDaniel is now 2-0-2 in four meetings against the Sea Gulls since 2023.
The Green Terror wrap-up their three-game road trip to open the 2026 season tomorrow when they face host St. Mary's (Md.) at 3:30 p.m.
