Women's Soccer Heads to Italy and Austria for Preseason Trip

WESTMINSTER, Md. - On Thursday, the McDaniel College women's soccer team left for an international trip where it will spend 10 days and eight nights in Italy and Austria to kick off the start of its 2026 season.

The Green Terror will participate in three international friendlies and take part in spectacular sightseeing activities. The team arrived in Italy on Friday and checked in at Hotel Touring before a light training session and dinner at the hotel restaurant.

On Saturday, the team will get a guided tour of San Siro Stadium, home of AC Milan and Inter Milan before lunch and sightseeing in downtown Milan. The stadium has a seating capacity of 75,817, making it the largest stadium in Italy and one of the largest stadiums in Europe.

McDaniel will have a training session on Sunday morning before heading to Lago di Garda to enjoy and relax at Lake Garda in northern Italy, the largest lake in Italy known for its crystal clear water.

The Green Terror will then have their first international friendly on Monday vs. Union Brescia in Coccaglio.

Following a training session on Tuesday morning, the team will transfer to Hotel Pension Lukas in Hopfgarten, Austria and on Wednesday, have the option to hike, bike, or ride a gondola at an elevation of 622 meters in the Kitzbühel Alps. Later that evening, the team will play its second international friendly against Wacker Innsbruck.

Another training session awaits the team on Thursday before a walk to Salvenaland, a lake, swimming pool and leisure park in Hopfgarten.

On Friday, McDaniel will visit the city of Innsbruck before playing in its final international friendly vs. the Tirol Select Team. Following the game, the team will have a farewell dinner before heading to the Munich International Airport on Saturday, August 8 to return to the United States.
