FROSTBURG, Md. – Frostburg won four of the six singles matches to defeat McDaniel 5-4 in non-conference men's tennis action on Thursday.
Tate Myers (East Berlin, Pa./Bermudian Springs) led the Green Terror (0-2) with a pair of victories on the day, teaming with Andrew Kendrick (Ellicott City, Md./Centennial) for an 8-1 win at No. 2 doubles. Myers also took a three-set match at fourth singles, winning the first set 6-3 before Jackson Rost evened the match with a 6-1 victory. Myers prevailed in the deciding set, 6-3.
Marcus Bowers paced the Bobcats (2-0) with a pair of wins. He and Rost won first doubles 8-4 before he won second singles in straight sets, 6-1, 6-2.
Justin Arter (Waldorf, Md./North Point) and Nick Reed (Irving, Texas/Watkinson School) gave McDaniel a 2-1 lead at doubles with an 8-3 victory in the No. 3 slot.
David Kramer also won a three-set match in singles to provide the difference. After Logan Lindemann Cohen (Auckland, New Zealand/Eagle Hill School) won the first set 6-4, Kramer responded with 6-4 and 6-2 victories to capture sixth singles.
Aiden Finnerty (Selinsgrove, Pa./Selinsgrove Area) added a 6-3, 6-2 win for the Green Terror at fifth singles.
McDaniel returns to action in the spring opener at Rutgers-Camden on Saturday, Feb. 25. Match time is 1 p.m.
