TOWSON, Md. – Towson won the first 10 events to record a 156-90 victory over McDaniel in non-conference women's swimming action on Saturday.
Kelly Lewis (Montgomery Village, Md./Seneca Valley) and Maddie Gamble (Colora, Md./Rising Sun) led the Green Terror (0-5) with a pair of victories each, including as part of the 400 free relay. The duo joined Shannon McClellan (Boonsboro, Md./Boonsboro) and Syd Knadler (Crowley Lake, Calif./Mammoth) to turn in the No. 6 time in program history with a mark of 3:42.21.
Thirteen different athletes combined to win the first 10 events for the Division I Tigers (5-2), including Kendall Krumenacker, who posted a time of 52.96 seconds in the 100 free.
Lewis also won the 200 breaststroke for McDaniel with a time of 2:38.29 while Gamble was the winner in the 500 free with the Green Terror's best time of the year in the event. Her time of 5:15.00 also ranks sixth in program history.
Samantha Smith (Bangkok, Thailand/International School of Bangkok) won the 100 butterfly with a time of 1:05.38 while Emma Purdue (Grasonville, Md./Annapolis Area Christian) was victorious in the 200 IM with a time of 2:36.69.
Joanna Wattenberg (Monrovia, Md./Urbana) joined Lewis, Smith and Knadler to open the meet with a time of 1:54.23 in the 200 medley relay to place second in the event.
Knadler was also third in the 50 freestyle with a time of 25.11, turning in McDaniel's best time of the season in her first action of the year. She was also fourth in the 100 free (56.00).
Gamble was also fourth in the 200 free with a time of 1:58.52 while Lewis finished fourth in the 100 breaststroke with a time of 1:11.81.
Smith posted the Green Terror's best time of the year in the 200 backstroke with a time of 2:21.38 to place fourth.
McDaniel returns to action at Dickinson on Saturday. Meet time is 1 p.m.
