BRYN MAWR, Pa. – McDaniel won nine of the first 12 events to key a 144-93 victory over Bryn Mawr in Centennial Conference (CC) women's swimming action on Saturday.
Carly Deickman (Bishopville, Md./Stephen Decatur) led a quartet of double winners for the Green Terror (2-7, 1-5 CC), touching first in the 50 and 100 breaststrokes. She won the 50 in a time of 34.59 before later winning the 100 in 1:13.97.
Rebecca Craig led the Owls (2-5, 0-5 CC) with three wins, touching first in the 200 free (2:00.12), 100 butterfly (1:04.63) and 200 IM (2:18.58).
Syd Knadler (Crowley Lake, Calif./Mammoth), Kelly Lewis (Montgomery Village, Md./Watkins Mill) and Samantha Smith (Bangkok, Thailand/International School of Bangkok) also won twice for McDaniel.
Knadler and Lewis joined Cara Dube (Milford, Conn./Joseph A. Foran) and Bryn Blanchard (Germantown, Md./Seneca Valley) to win the 200 medley relay in a time of 1:58.68. The quartet edged the Green Terror's A relay that included Deickman and Smith by 0.71 seconds. Joanna Wattenberg (Monrovia, Md./Urbana) and Maddie Gamble (Colora, Md./Rising Sun) rounded out the relay.
Knadler won the 50 backstroke individually with a time of 30.66 seconds while Lewis won the 50 free in a time of 26.31.
Smith won the 100 backstroke (1:04.12) and 50 butterfly (27.75 seconds) while Wattenberg was victorious in the 100 free, posting a time of 57.42.
Juliann Rossi (Marriottsville, Md./McDonogh) rounded out the McDaniel winners, touching first in the 500 free with a time of 5:57.03.
Shannon McClellan (Boonsboro, Md./Boonsboro), Sarah Blonder (Baltimore, Md./Western) and Emma Perdue (Gransonville, Md./Annapolis Area Christian) joined Gamble to post the fastest time in the 200 free relay, turning in a time of 1:53.00 as an exhibition in the event.
Dube added a second-place finish in the 200 free (2:08.11) and third-place showing in the 50 free (27.69).
McClellan was second in the 50 free (27.36) and 100 free (58.52) while Lewis was third in the 500 free (6:08.86).
Perdue was second in the 50 breaststroke (36.44) and third in the 100 butterfly (1:14.21).
Knadler added a second-place finish in the 100 backstroke (1:04.93) and was third in the 100 breaststroke (1:16.06).
Emily Gross (Red Lion, Pa./Red Lion) was second in the 100 butterfly (1:08.82) while Melissa Fry (St. Mary's, Ga./Camden County) finished second in the 500 free (5:57.54).
Wattenberg was third in the 100 back (1:07.79) while Becca Sykes (Collegeville, Pa./Methacton) was third in the 200 free (2:08.51) and 100 free (59.54).
McDaniel concludes the dual-meet season at home against Washington (Md.) on Saturday. Meet time is 1 p.m.
