Brooks wins pair of races

CARLISLE, Pa. – Dickinson won seven events as part of a 132-72 Centennial Conference (CC) men's swimming victory over McDaniel on Saturday.

Brad Brooks (Newark, Del./Charter School of Wilmington) led the Green Terror (0-6, 0-4 CC) with two wins, touching first in both distance events. He won the 1000 free in a time of 9:49.47 and the 500 free in a time of 4:50.91.

Kevin Potocki paced the Red Devils (5-1, 2-0 CC) with three victories. He joined Ben Shapiro, Sam Eaton and Kiernan Jordan to open the meet with a victory in the 200 medley relay. Potocki anchored the quartet to a time of 1:40.48. He also touched first in the 50 free (22.84 seconds) and 100 free (50.06).

Paul Van Nevel (Gaithersburg, Md./Poolesville) and Justin Allen (Ashburn, Va./Broad Run) also recorded victories for McDaniel. Van Nevel touched first in the 100 backstroke with a time of 55.64 seconds to record the Green Terror's best time of the season and move into third place on the all-time list.

Allen won the 100 breaststroke in a time of 1:00.86.

Brooks also added a second-place finish with a time of 55.99 seconds in the 100 butterfly to post the second best time of the season on the team in that event.

Allen placed second in the 200 IM with a time of 2:05.42 while Van Nevel was also third in the 200 free with a time of 1:52.47.

Brian Austin (Turlock, Calif./J.H. Pitman) finished third in the 1000 free with a season-best time of 11:28.02.

Logan Linden (Ocean View, Del./Indian River) finished third in the 50 free (23.64 seconds) while Adam Halmy (Shenandoah, Texas/College Park) was third in the 100 free (52.09).

Shapiro and Jordan rounded out two-win days for Dickinson with victories in the 200 IM (2:02.24) and 100 butterfly (53.76 seconds), respectively. Alex Bennett won the 200 free (1:49.81) and led off the winning 200 free relay, which posted a time of 1:31.34.

McDaniel returns to action at home against Franklin & Marshall on Friday. Meet time is 6 p.m.
