Box Score WESTMINSTER, Md. – McDaniel jumped out to a 13-3 lead 22 minutes into the game en route to a 20-9 victory over Misericordia in the quarterfinals of the 2015 Eastern College Athletic Conference (ECAC) Mid-Atlantic women's lacrosse tournament on Wednesday.
Sam Barbeito (Wolfsville, Md./Middletown) led the Green Terror (10-7) with six points on three goals and three assists. She was one of four players to record hat tricks for third-seeded McDaniel, which advances to Saturday's semifinal against second-seeded Lebanon Valley. The semifinals and championship will be played at Stevens, the top seed, on Saturday and Sunday. Game times will be announced on Thursday.
Danielle Entrot (Ellicott City, Md./Centennial) added five goals and chipped in two assists. Maggie Quinn (Crofton, Md./Archbishop Spalding) and Julia Jacobs (Stevensville, Md./St. Mary's) chipped in three goals each while Quinn added a pair of helpers.
Liz Mulvey led the Cougars (9-10) with four goals.
Jacobs and Barbeito finished feeds from Entrot and Quinn, respectively, to stake the Green Terror to a quick 2-0 lead just 1:29 into the game.
Misericordia fired back with goals from Mulvey and Alexandra Elmes to even the game at 2-all with 24:10 showing.
Bridget Bopst (Westminster, Md./South Carroll) quickly finished from the left side off the first of Mallory Michel's (Lititz, Pa./Warwick) assists.
Back-to-back Barbeito solo runs and a Barbeito-to-Entrot connection pushed the lead to 6-2 with 19:42 to play.
Mulvey momentarily halted the run before Emily Brownawell (Sparks, Md./Oldfields) scored back-to-back markers to spark a 7-0 run. Entrot contributed two goals and an assist during the run that pushed the lead to double digits for the first time with 7:52 showing.
The Cougars closed to within 14-6 before Jacobs tallied in the final minute of the first half to make it a 15-6 game at the break.
Goals from Olivia Geiger (Ellicott City, Md./Marriotts Ridge) and Entrot pushed the lead to 17-6 just 3:37 into the second half.
Lily Galzerano (Newburyport, Mass./Newburyport) made 11 saves in 43 minutes of action between the pipes. Quinn added six draw controls and two caused turnovers.
