Box Score COLLEGEVILLE, Pa. – McDaniel jumped out to a 6-1 lead en route to a 14-9 victory over Ursinus in Centennial Conference (CC) women's lacrosse action on Saturday.
Emily Brownawell (Sparks, Md./Oldsfield) tallied four goals and one assist to lead the Green Terror (9-6, 4-4 CC), who will enter next Saturday's finale in position to possibly clinch a playoff berth with a win.
Kitty Dawson paced the Bears (4-11, 2-5 CC) with four goals of her own.
Maggie Quinn (Crofton, Md./Archbishop Spalding) and Julia Jacobs (Stevensville, Md./St. Mary's) staked McDaniel to a 2-0 lead just 5:06 into the game before Emma Ebert tallied to cut the deficit in a half with 24:05 on the clock.
Quinn bookended a four-goal run over a 10-minute, 29-second span in which Sam Barbeito (Wolfsville, Md./Middletown) and Brownawell also scored.
Three straight Ursinus goals, including two from Dawson in the final 26 seconds of the half closed the halftime deficit to 6-4.
Jacobs tallied twice in the first 10:50 of the second half to push the lead back to 8-4 and key a 5-1 run over the first 20 minutes of the stanza.
After Dawson closed the deficit to 8-5 with 16:43 showing, Danielle Entrot (Ellicott City, Md./Centennial) converted a free-position tally and Bridget Bopst (Westminster, Md./South Carroll) and Brownawell finished solo runs to make it an 11-5 game with 10:56 showing.
The two teams traded goals over the final 10:33 for the final margin.
Quinn added a draw control and two caused turnovers to her four goals.
Olivia Geiger (Ellicott City, Md./Marriotts Ridge) added four draw controls.
The Green Terror concludes the regular season at home against Washington (Md.) on Saturday. Game time is 1 p.m.
