Rosanova goes 3-for-3

BALTIMORE, Md. – Johns Hopkins broke open a 2-all deadlock with 10 runs between the fifth and seventh innings en route to a 12-5 victory over McDaniel in Centennial Conference (CC) baseball action on Sunday.

Antonio Rosanova (Laurel, Md./DeMatha) led the Green Terror (9-12, 2-7 CC) with a 3-for-3 day at the plate.

Chris Casey led the Blue Jays (14-7-1, 6-2-1 CC) with a 3-for-4 day, adding three RBIs.

Tied at 2 with one out in the bottom of the fifth, Craig Hoelzer started a string of five straight hits.

Daniel Albert followed with a single before Mike Smith drove in Hoelzer with a single to break the deadlock.

A Casey two-run double down the line stretched the lead to 5-2 before Ryan Orgielewicz singled to make it a 6-2 game.

An Albert two-run home run in the sixth and Casey RBI single stretched the lead to 9-2.

A Nick Valori (Sewell, N.J./Washington Twp.) two-run single with the bases loaded in the seventh closed the gap to 9-4 but Johns Hopkins responded with three more runs in the bottom of the inning.

Alex Rosss reached on an infield single to lead off the frame before a walk put runners at first and second.

An error on the ensuing sacrifice attempt allowed both runners to score before Hoelzer singled home Mee for a 12-4 lead.

Rosanova tripled to lead off the ninth before scoring on an error to set the final margin.

Conor Reynolds reached on an error to lead off the bottom of the first before moving to second on a groundout and stealing third. He scored on a Hoelzer RBI fielder's choice for a 1-0 lead.

Albert led off the fourth with a home run to stretch the lead to 2-0.

Tyler O'Shea (Springfield, Pa./Springfield) led off the top of the fifth with a homer of his own before Rosanova singled up the middle with one out.

Sean Sivo (Ellicott City, Md./Howard) and Marty Windsich (Manchester, Md./Manchester Valley) followed with singles to load the bases before a Cameron Bahr (Southampton, N.J./Seneca) sacrifice fly tied the game.

McDaniel concludes the home-and-home series at home against Johns Hopkins on Monday. Game time is 3:45 p.m.
