Box Score ALLENTOWN, Pa. – Muhlenberg scored the game's final six goals to secure a 17-9 victory over McDaniel in Centennial Conference (CC) women's lacrosse action on Saturday.
Maggie Quinn (Crofton, Md./Archbishop Spalding) led the Green Terror (8-5, 3-3 CC) with two goals and one assist while also adding six draw controls.
Stephanie Umbach, the CC's leading scorer, paced the Mules (6-5, 2-3 CC) with seven goals and two assists.
After McDaniel closed to within 9-8 when Quinn finished a solo run with 27:20 to play, Sarah McTamany scored off an Umbach assist 1:29 later and Umbach found the back of the net with 23:58 to push the advantage to three – the hosts largest lead to that point in the game.
Julia Jacobs (Stevensville, Md./St. Mary's) found the back of the net 19 seconds later but Kelsey Nagle finished the second Umbach assist to start the six-goal run to the finish.
Nagle then hit Stephanie D'Ascoli and Umbach in a 2-miunte, 11-second span before Kayleigh Thies finished a solo run to make it a 15-9.
D'Ascoli scored the final two goals to set the final margin.
Umbach tallied from Nelson just 1:58 into the game before Quinn converted a free-position shot then found Danielle Entrot (Ellicott City, Md./Centennial) for a 2-1 lead with 25:53 showing.
Casey Armstrong then found Umbach before finishing a solo run of her own to turn the one-goal deficit into a one-goal lead with 2452 showing.
Olivia Geiger (Ellicott City, Md./Marriotts Ridge) drew the visitors even with 23:36 on the clock before Umbach put Muhlenberg back in front 13 seconds later.
Goals from Abby Phillips (Pylesville, Md./North Harford) and Sam Barbeito (Wolfsville, Md./Middletown) gave McDaniel a 5-4 edge midway through the first period before back-to-back scores by Umbach and a Thies goal made it a 7-5 game with 6:19 on the clock.
Jacobs and Nagle traded markers in the final 2:08 of the first half before Entrot hit the back of the net 1:32 into the second half to make it an 8-7 game.
Nagle converted a free-position shot nearly a minute later before Quinn needed just 14 seconds to once again make it a one-goal game.
The Green Terror returns to action at Dickinson on Wednesday. Game time is 7 p.m.
