Box Score

GRANTHAM, Pa. – Messiah scored four straight goals to open up a 14-8 lead en route to a 16-11 victory over McDaniel in non-conference women's lacrosse action on Saturday.

Bridget Bopst (Westminster, Md./South Carroll) led the Green Terror (2-2) at the offensive end with her first hat trick of the season. Lily Galzerano (Newburyport, Mass./Newburyport) made 18 saves, facing a barrage of 46 shot.

Claire Stikeleather paced the Falcons (2-2) with five goals while the defense limited its visitors to 17 shots, including just six after halftime.

Clinging to an 8-7 halftime edge after Bopst drew McDaniel within one just before the halftime horn, Stikeleather converted a free-position goal with 23:59 to play and Carly Bajus found the back of the net a minute later to push the lead to three.

Bopst capped her three-goal day with 22:28 on the clock before Ida Ehrhardt found Liz Brennan to spark the four-goal burst with 22:04 showing.

Ehrhardt converted a free-position shot and Stikeleather netted back-to-back unassisted tallies to cap the 8-minute, 10-second stretch.

Back-to-back 8-meter goals from Maggie Quinn (Crofton, Md./Archbishop Spalding) and Emily Brownawell (Sparks, Md./Oldsfield) trimmed the deficit to 14-10 with 7:04 on the clock.

However, Sam Babbitt and Bajus each found the back of the net to seal the win.

Danielle Entrot (Ellicott City, Md./Centennial) founded out the scoring with a free-position goal in the final 21 seconds.

Sam Barbeito (Wolfsville, Md./Middletown) staked McDaniel to a 1-0 lead off an Entrot feed 6:25 into the game before Stephanie Athens and Shayna Delaney turned the one-goal deficit into a one-goal lead four minutes later.

Abby Phillips (Pylesville, Md./North Harford) and Bopst once again put the visitors in front by one before Ehrhardt sparked a four-goal Messiah flurry.

Two Marybeth Bindel free-position goals made it a 6-3 game with 9:39 to play in the opening half.

The teams traded goals before Olivia Geiger (Ellicott City, Md./Marriotts Ridge) and Bopst closed the first-half scoring to make it an 8-7 game.

Quinn and Entrot controlled four draws each while Geiger had three. Quinn also picked up three ground balls.

McDaniel returns to action at home against Susquehanna on Wednesday. Game time is 6:30 p.m.
