WESTMINSTER, Md. - McDaniel jumped out to a 5-1 lead before holding on for a 9-7 Centennial Conference (CC) women's lacrosse victory over Haverford on Saturday.

Lily Galzerano (Newburyport, Mass./Newburyport) made 16 saves for the Green Terror (7-2, 2-0 CC), including nine after halftime when the Fords (6-4, 1-1 CC) racked up a 22-6 advantage in shots.

Molly Lausten netted two of Haverford's goals.

Emily Brownawell (Sparks, Md./Oldfields) staked McDaniel to a 1-0 lead just 2:33 into the game before Maggie Quinn (Crofton, Md./Archbishop Spalding) netted the first of her four goals just over a minute later.

A Sam Barbeito (Wolfsville, Md./Middletown) marker pushed the advantage to 3-0 before Hannah Morgan broke up the shutout with a free-position goal with 20:34 showing.

Goals from Quinn and Abby Phillips (Pylesville, Md./North Harford) pushed the lead to 5-1 with 5:30 to play in the first half.

Molly Lausten hit a free-position goal with 30 seconds to play before Phillips reestablished the four-goal edge, hitting a free-position shot of her own with eight seconds on the clock.

Sarina Manetta and Quinn traded tallies 16 seconds apart early in the second half before Elyse Adler trimmed the margin to 7-4 with 22:33 showing.

Quinn and Barbeito stretched the lead to 9-4 midway through the second half before three different Fords scored in the final 13:33 to play to set the final margin.

Haveford finished with a 33-19 advantage in shots for the game.

The Green Terror returns to action at home against Swarthmore on Wednesday. Game time is 7 p.m.
