HAVERFORD, Pa. – Haverford won the top four singles flights to tally a 6-3 win over McDaniel in Centennial Conference (CC) men's tennis action on Saturday.
Will Giles (LaVale, Md./Bishop Walsh) led the Green Terror (3-5, 0-2 CC) with two wins. He teamed with Ryan Salomon (Bethesda, Md./The Siena) to record an 8-5 win at third doubles before notching a three-set win at fifth singles. Giles took the first set 6-4 before Keisuke Sawada forced a third set with a 6-1 victory. Giles prevailed in the super-tiebreaker, 10-8.
Luis Acada led the Fords (4-2, 2-0 CC) with a pair of wins. He teamed with Harrison Elbert for an 8-3 win at No. 1 doubles before winning first singles, 6-1, 6-0.
Elbert wrapped up a two-win day with a 6-3, 7-6 (10-8) win at third singles.
Corey Glocker (Silver Spring, Md./Blake) also won in three sets for McDaniel. Glocker took the opening set at No. 6 singles 6-0 before Rafi Small forced a third set, 6-1. Once again in a super-tiebreaker, Glocker took the point with a 10-6 win.
The Green Terror returns to action at home against Dickinson on Tuesday. Match time is 4 p.m.
