Box Score WESTMINSTER, Md. – McDaniel scored 12 runs in the third inning to key a 16-7 non-conference baseball victory over Messiah on Wednesday.
Nick Valori (Sewell, N.J./Washington Twp.) led the Green Terror (6-5) with three hits while also scoring three runs and driving in three more. Marty Windisch (Manchester, Md./Manchester Valley) went six innings on the hill, fanning seven batters and allowing just one unearned run for his second win of the season.
Josh Good led the Falcons (3-6) with a two hits.
With one out in the bottom of the third inning, Sean Sivo (Ellicott City, Md./Howard) reached second on a throwing error to start a stretch of 12 straight McDaniel batters to reach base.
Tyler O'Shea (Springfield, Pa./Springfield) and Valori had the big hits of the inning with two-run doubles.
A Good single coupled with a Colton Kiester single and a throwing error accounted made it a 12-1 game in the sixth.
A walk and Chris Morris (Wynnewood, Pa./Harriton) sacrifice fly once again made it a 12-run game in the seventh.
Messiah scored four times in the eighth before the Green Terror scored three times in the bottom of the frame keyed by a Mitchell McVerry (Westminster, Md./Westminster) two-run single to make it a 16-5 game heading to the ninth.
The Falcons, keyed by a Colin Fry RBI double, scored twice in the final inning for the final margin.
O'Shea added two hits for McDaniel while Windisch, Morris, McVerry and O'Shea all had a pair of RBIs.
The Green Terror opens the Centennial Conference schedule at home against Franklin & Marshall on Saturday. The first game of the doubleheader begins at 12:30 p.m.
