FREDERICK, Md. – McDaniel swept doubles play en route to an 8-1 win over Hood in non-conference men's tennis action on Tuesday.
Ryan Salomon (Bethesda, Md./The Siena) led the Green Terror (3-4) with a pair of wins that included a 6-1, 6-0 victory at No. 4 singles.
Joe Benton tallied the lone win for the Blazers (2-5) with a straight-set win at sixth singles. Benton took the first set 7-6 after winning the tiebreaker, 7-3. He completed the win with a 6-4 victory in the second set.
Salomon also teamed with Philip Jorgensen (Bowie, Md./Cahal Academy) for an 8-4 win at second doubles.
Satchel McCarthy (Cape Elizabeth, Maine/Cape Elizabeth) and Seth McFall (Dover, Del./Caesar Rodney) partnered for an 8-2 win at first doubles before each won their singles match in straight set. McFall took No. 1 singles while McCarthy won at No. 2. Both won by identical 6-1, 6-1 scores.
Jorgensen rounded out a two-win day with a 6-2, 6-3 win at third singles.
Will Giles (LaVale, Md./Bishop Walsh) and Corey Glocker (Silver Spring, Md./Blake) notched an 8-1 win at third doubles. Giles added a second victory, winning at fifth singles by default.
The Green Terror returns to action at Haverford on Saturday. Match time is 11 a.m.
