Jacobs tallies six in victory

Box Score

NEWPORT NEWS, Va. – McDaniel scored six of the game's first seven goals en route to a 14-10 victory over Christopher Newport in non-conference women's lacrosse action on Thursday.

Julia Jacobs (Stevensville, Md./St. Mary's) led the Green Terror (5-2) with six goals, including four in the game's opening run. Danielle Entrot (Ellicott City, Md./Centennial) added three goals and an assist to give her 288 career points and pass Sandi Stevens as the program's all-time leader in points scored with 288.

Caite Chess paced the Captains (4-4) with three goals.

Sam Barbeito (Wolfsville, Md./Middletown) found Danielle Entrot (Ellicott City, Md./Centennial) for the senior's 200th goal just 51 seconds into the game. Entrot becomes just the 10th Centennial Conference player to reach that plateau.

Carly Wilson evened the game on a free-position goal with 26:00 showing before Jacobs reeled off a natural hat trick in a 9-minute, 9-second span.

The first goal came off an Entrot assist before finishing a feed from Emily Brownawell (Sparks, Md./Oldfields) and her third was on a free-position shot.

Abby Phillips (Pylesville, Md./North Harford) made it a 5-1 game before Jacobs capped the opening run with 13:20 showing.

Meghan Galvin momentarily broke up the momentum but Jacobs finished twice in a 52-second span to push the lead to 8-2 with 8:13 on the clock.

Solo markers from Lindsay Weaver and Chess closed the deficit to 8-4 before Entrot matched Stevens' 26-year-old mark with just four second remaining in the opening half.

Two Chess goals around an Erin Callahan marker closed the margin to 9-7 with 20:46 to play before Barbeito finished a solo run with 18:56 on the clock.

Just 23 seconds later, Entrot broke the tie with Stevens with an unassisted goal to make it an 11-7 game.

Goals from Bridget Bopst (Westminster, Md./South Carroll) and Barbeito stretched the lead to 13-7 with 8:55 on the clock before the Captains tallied three of the four goals in the final 6:06.

Entrot added 10 draw controls while Maggie Quinn (Crofton, Md./Archbishop Spalding) had five as part of a 20-6 advantage at the center circle.

McDaniel returns to action at Shenandoah on Saturday. Game time is 1 p.m.
