Windisch records six knocks, Rosanova five in split

FORT MYERS, Fla. – McDaniel plated 22 runs on 30 hits in a split with Skidmore at the Gene Cusic Classic in non-conference baseball action on Wednesday.

Marty Windisch (Manchester, Md./Manchester Valley) led the offensive attack for the Green Terror (4-3) with six hits and seven RBIs, recording three hits in each game. McDaniel took the opener 11-1 before falling in game two, 14-11.

Matt Barra paced the Thoroughbreds (4-2) with four hits.

After the teams traded runs through the first two innings of game one, Antonio Rosanova (Laurel, Md./DeMatha) led off the third inning with a single to spark an 11-batter, 7-run frame.

Sean Sivo (Ellicott City, Md./Howard) and Nick Valori (Sewell, N.J./Washington Twp.) each followed with singles to load the bases before Windisch cleared the left-field fence for a grand slam and 5-1 lead to key the inning.

The Green Terror tacked on two runs in each the fifth and sixth to complete the 11-1 victory.

Zach Kronick (Schenectady, N.Y./Guilderland) pitched the first five innings with four strikeouts, allowing just two hits for his second win of the year.

All nine starters had at least one hit and six had multiple-hit days in the opener.

Trailing 3-2 in the nightcap, it was Skidmore with the big inning, plating six runs in the bottom of the second to take an 8-3 lead.

Nick Barra had the big hit of the inning with a two-out, two-run single to five the Thoroughbreds the five-run advantage.

A Rosanova two-run single in the third capped a three-run inning before a Tyler Gilbert (Severn, Md./Glen Burnie) RBI single and balk evened the game at fourth.

Jeb Clarke, Dan Miller and Eric Damphousse each drove in runs in the bottom of the fourth to put Skidmore back in front, 11-8.

A Matt Barra RBI double and Nick Barra two-run double stretched the lead to 14-8 in the fifth.

Windisch capped a three-run top of the seventh with a two-run double to set the final margin.

Rosanova also had three hits in game two to give him five on the day while Valori and Chris Morris (Wynnewood, Pa./Harrington) added a pair of knocks.

The Green Terror returns to action against Lasell on Thursday. Game time is 9 a.m.
