HILTON HEAD, S.C. – McDaniel took all six singles matches in straight set to cap a 9-0 win over Salem State in non-conference men's tennis action on Monday.
Philip Jorgensen (Bowie, Md./Cahal Academy) led the Green Terror (2-2) with a pair of wins, dropping just four games.
Matt Mogren led the Vikings (0-2), pushing the first set of No. 1 singles to a tiebreaker.
Satchel McCarthy (Cape Elizabeth, Maine/Cape Elizabeth) prevailed in that tiebreaker 10-8 to win the set 7-6 before completing the straight-set win, 6-4. McCarthy and Seth McFall (Dover, Del./Caesar Rodney) won at first doubles, 8-3.
Jorgensen won at third singles 6-1, 6-2 after teaming with Daniel Xinis (Owings, Md./Northern) for an 8-1 win at second doubles.
Ryan Salomon (Bethesda, Md./The Siena) and Corey Glocker (Silver Spring, Md./Blake) tallied an 8-5 win at third doubles to give McDaniel a 3-0 lead at that point.
McFall (No. 2 singles) and Salomon (No. 5) each won 6-1, 6-1 in their singles matches while Xinis was a 7-6, 6-2 winner at fourth singles.
Will Giles (LaVale, Md./Bishop Walsh) won 6-4, 6-2 at sixth singles.
The Green Terror returns to action against Thomas on Tuesday. Match time is 4 p.m.
