Entrot sets career mark in conference-opening win

Box Score

WESTMINSTER, Md. – McDaniel scored five goals in the first five minutes en route to a 19-2 victory over Bryn Mawr in the Centennial Conference (CC) opener for both teams on Saturday.

Danielle Entrot (Ellicott City, Md./Centennial) wasted no time, taking the all-time goals record by herself, scoring just 33 seconds into the game. She led the Green Terror (4-2, 1-0 CC) with five goals on the day to give her 199 for her career.

Sam Barbeito (Wolfsville, Md./Middletown) added two goals and eight assists. The 10 points in a game was the most by a McDaniel player since Entrot turned the trick in 2012. Barbeito's eight assists also rank second in a single game in program history. Only Sandi Stevens had more in a game, handing out 11 against Gettysburg in 1989.

Fiona Steele scored both goals for the Owls (2-3, 0-1 CC), finding the back of the net twice in the first half.

After Entrot's unassisted goal 33 seconds in broke her deadlock with Brittney Baer for the program record, Emily Brownawell (Sparks, Md./Oldsfield) finished the first of Barbeito's eight assists 31 seconds later.

Maggie Quinn (Crofton, Md./Archbishop Spalding) found the back of the net twice around an Abby Phillips (Pylesville, Md./North Harford) marker for the 5-0 lead.

Steele broke up the shutout with 24:32 to play in the opening half before back-to-back Barbeito-to-Entrot tallies sparked another 6-0 run.

Barbeito had the assist on four of the six goals.

Steele made it an 11-2 game with 6:53 to play before Entrot finished a Brownawell pass with 1:06 to play in the first half.

Six Green Terror players found the back of the net for seven second-half goals. Barbeito was the only one to score twice. Ellie Thompson (Frederick, Md./Brunswick) scored her first goal of the season to cap the scoring on a free-position goal with 5:56 remaining.

Quinn added six ground balls and six draw controls to her four goals.

McDaniel returns to action at Christopher Newport on Tuesday. Game time is 3 p.m.
