Box Score WESTMINSTER, Md. – McDaniel outscored Goucher 11-0 after halftime to notch an 18-4 victory in season-opening women's lacrosse action on Wednesday.
Danielle Entrot (Ellicott City, Md./Centennial) led the Green Terror (1-0) with five goals and four assists while Sam Barbeito (Wolfsville, Md./Middletown) added four goals and two assists.
Jessica Borucki led the Gophers (1-1) with a pair of goals.
Barbeito and Megan Meluskey traded unassisted markers in the game's first 4:35 before Mallory Michel (Lititz, Pa./Warwick) finished an Entrot feed to start a 5-1 run with 24:40 showing.
Entrot finished from Barbeito with 17:53 on the clock before Abby Phillips (Pylesville, Md./North Harford) converted a free-position goal 53 seconds later.
After Borucki found the back of the net with an unassisted marker before Bridget Bopst (Westminster, Md./South Carroll) and Barbeito capped the stretch to open up a 6-2 lead.
Goals from Jojo Franklin and Borucki around a Julia Jacobs (Stevensville, Md./St. Mary's) marker made it a 7-4 game at halftime.
Barbeito found Entrot 3:18 into the second half before scoring tow of her own goals to open up a 10-4 lead with 24:12 showing.
Four different goal scorers stretched the lead to 14-4 with 14:44 showing before Entrot finished twice from Emily Brownawell (Sparks, Md./Oldfields) and Jacobs hit the final two markers.
Entrot added six ground balls while Maggie Quinn (Crofton, Md./Archbishop Curley) added five draw controls and three caused turnovers.
Lily Galzerano (Newburyport, Mass./Newburyport) made 12 saves on the night, four of which came in the second-half shutout. McDaniel finished with a 40-18 advantage in shots, including 22-5 in the second half.
The Green Terror returns to action at Frostburg on Saturday. Game time is 2 p.m.
