WESTMINSTER, Md. – St. Mary's (Md.) won five events and finished second in seven individual events to notch a 55-40 win over McDaniel in non-conference men's swimming action on Friday.
Brad Brooks (Newark, Del./Charter School of Wilmington) led the Green Terror (0-4) with three wins.
Matt Walchuck won two individual events to lead the Seahawks (6-3), touching first in the 200 IM with a time of 2:00.01 and the 100 freestyle with a time of 49.05 seconds.
Michael Speer and Colin Cassidy also won twice for St. Mary's, including joining Zach Lilley and Andrew Braker to win the 200 free relay in a time of 1:29.97. Speer won the 150 free (1:19.00) while Cassidy won the 50 free (22.75 seconds).
Brooks won the 1000 free with a time of 9:50.61 before making it a sweep in the distance events with a win in the 500 free with a time of 4:57.50. He also rallied to win the 150 butterfly with a time of 1:27.17.
Paul Van Nevel (Gaithersburg, Md./Poolesville) and Justin Allen (Ashburn, Va./Broad Run) also won twice for McDaniel. The duo joined Adam Halmy (Shenandoah, Texas/College Park and Logan Linden (Ocean View, Del./Indian River) to open the meet with a win in the 200 medley relay with a time of 1:41.46.
Van Nevel also won the 150 backstroke with a time of 1:27.63 while Allen touched first in the 150 breaststroke with a time of 1:37.01.
Van Nevel added a second-place finish in the 150 free (1:20.78) while Allen was second in the 200 IM (2:01.82).
The Green Terror returns to action at Towson on Saturday, Jan. 9. Meet time is 1 p.m.
