Windisch goes long three times in split

Box Score 1 | Box Score 2

HAVERFORD, Pa. – McDaniel broke out the bats, notching 30 hits in a Centennial Conference (CC) baseball doubleheader split at Haverford on Saturday.

The Green Terror (11-4, 5-5 CC) took game one 15-2 behind a program-record three home runs from Marty Windisch (Manchester, Md./Manchester Valley) before the Fords (11-13, 4-4 CC) salvaged a split with two late runs, 8-6.

Windisch went 3-for-5 with five RBIs in game one. Brandon Hayward (Salisbury, Md./J.M. Bennett) added four hits and four runs scored while Nick Valori (Sewell, N.J./Washington Twp.) went 3-for-4 in the opener. In game tow, Joe Fiore (Point Pleasant, N.J./Point Beach) led the way with four hits.

Trailing 1-0 on singles from Mike Tentilucci and Nick Miranda in the bottom of the third, Windisch knotted the game by leading off the top of the fourth with a solo shot to right field.

Hayward led off the fifth with a single before a Sean Sivo (Ellicott City, Md./Howard) double put runners at second and third.

After a strikeout, Windisch made it two home runs in two innings, clearing the fence in left center for a 4-1 lead.

Chris Morris (Wynnewood, Pa./Harrington) was hit by a one-out pitch in the sixth before a Hayward single put runners at first and second.

Both runners moved up a base on the second out before a throwing error allowed Jonathan McKinney (Jonestown, Pa./Northern Lebanon) to reach and the two runners to score for a 6-1 advantage.

Back-to-back doubles from Marshall Betts (Berlin, Md./Stephen Decatur) and Valori ignited a seven-run seventh.

Hayward keyed the inning with a two-run double before scoring on a McKinney sacrifice fly ahead of Windisch's third roundtripper of the game.

A Hayward double, one-out walk to Tom Gallo (Bernardsville, N.J./Bernards) and fielding error loaded the bases with two outs in the ninth.

Andrew Hofmeister (Baltimore, Md./McDonogh) drew a walk to force in Hayward before Tyler Gilbert (Severn, Md./Glen Burnie) singled in Gallo for a 15-1 lead.

Jared Deveau led off the bottom of the inning with a home run to set the final margin.

Zach Kronick (Schenectady, N.Y./Guilderland) struck out five in seven innings for his third win of the year.

Tied at 6-all in the bottom of the seventh in game two, Marley Randazzo led off with a single up the middle before stealing second.

After he took third on a groundout, he was able to score on a wild pitch for a 7-6 lead.

Casey Fox led off the eighth with a single before stealing second and scoring on a Vollaro one-out single for an insurance run.

Back-to-back singles from Fiore and Morris followed by a Hayward two-run double down the line staked McDaniel to a 2-0 lead in the second.

Fox sliced the deficit in half with a one-out home run in the bottom of the frame before a Miranda single and William Bannard triple evened the game in the third.

Sivo led off the fifth with a single before Windisch drew a walk and Betts singled to load the bases.

Valori followed with an RBI knock to the gap before Windsich was able to score on a double play for a 4-2 lead.

Four errors in the bottom of the inning led to four unearned runs and a 6-4 Ford advantage.

Betts was hit by a pitch with one out in the seventh before Valori singled and Cameron Bahr (Southampton, N.J./Seneca) walked to load the bases.

A Gilbert sacrifice fly and Fiore RBI single evened the game once again.

Andrew Monger (Ellicott City, Md./Mt. Hebron) struck out six in 6 1/3 innings of work.

McDaniel returns to action at home against Penn State-York on Tuesday. Game time is 3:30 p.m.
