Molhenrich tallies three and two

Box Score

COLLEGEVILLE, Pa. – McDaniel scored a pair of late goals to break a 9-all deadlock and defeat Ursinus 11-10 in Centennial Conference (CC) women's lacrosse action on Saturday.

Anna Molhenrich (Towson, Md./Mercy) recorded three goals and two assists to lead the Green Terror (9-6, 5-3 CC), who will assure itself a conference playoff berth with a victory over Washington (Md.) in the season finale next Saturday.

Lauren Garganio, Nicole Kovacs and Devin Brakel led the Bears (4-10, 1-6 CC) with two goals each.

Knotted at 9-all with 16:54 to play after four straight Ursinus goals, including both of Garganio's, Paige Messersmith (Phoenix, Md./Dulaney) converted a free-position goal 10 minutes later to put McDaniel back in front.

Anna Beaudry (Amherst, Mass./Amherst Regional) made it a two-goal cushion with 2:18 to play before Kovacs hit a free-position tally with 90 seconds to play to draw the hosts within one but the defense staved off one final Bear possession for the win.

Free-position goals from Danielle Entrot (Ellicott City, Md./Centennial) and Molhenrich in the opening 6:22 staked the Green Terror to a 2-0 lead.

Kitty Dawson finished a solo run to cut the deficit in half with 20:50 showing before Bridget Bopst (Westminster, Md./South Carroll) finished an Entrot feed 2:25 later for a 3-1 advantage.

Three straight Ursinus goals over a 6-minute, 7-second span gave the hosts  4-3 lead with 9:46 to play in the opening half.

Bopst found Molhenrich with 7:11 on the clock to knot the game before Entrot put the Green Terror back in front with 4:25 showing.

Knovacs leveled the game once again with 2:29 remaining before Maggie Quinn (Crofton, Md./Archbishop Spalding) put McDaniel on top at the break.

A Molhenrich free-position tally 1:24 into the second half stretched the lead to two before she added assists on the next two goals, finding Beaudry and Entrot for a 9-5 lead with 27:18 remaining.

The Bears put together their 4-0 run over a span of 6 minutes, 44 seconds.

Quinn added four draw controls for McDaniel, which finished with a 22-18 advantage in shots.

Game time on Saturday is 1 p.m.
